V20 for $480 or wait a few months for G6?

Ive been looking at the G6 and theres a few things I like and a few I dont so Ive been using my Mate 9 (some quirks are getting seriously aggravating) until the G6 or something else persuades me to try it. Today Im being persuaded a bit since T-Mobile has put the V20 on sale at $480. After the Note 7 debacle Im pretty much over Samsung phones and really not eager to purchase another one on launch day, especially with the drastic changes the G6 took. So for everyone using the V20, would you buy another today at $480 and be happy with it or wait a few months and see how the G6 turns out in real world usage?

I made the decision to go with the V20 over the G6 or GS8. It was 50% off through AT&T Next, and I couldn't pass on that price. Even if the G6 and GS8 might be a little better in some ways; they will not be $400+ better IMO. My V20 should arrive tomorrow, and I can't wait.

Easy decision: do you need a removable battery or not? If yes, V20. If no, might as well get the G6. The second screen isn't polished enough to be a selling point for the V20, but the G6 has many good things going for it... Unless you're like me or others who need that battery to be removable.

Removable battery isnt an advantage or disadvantage to me. Based on reviews Ive seen, both the G6 and V20 will have comparable battery life so thats a wash for me. Dont care at all about water resistance, however wireless charging would be nice again. The new screen ratio on the G6 is a little odd but Im sure I'd get used to it. The downsides on the G6 have to be the onboard storage and the fact that they used the 821 instead of 835. To me the difference between the 821 and 820 is negligible so either the V20 or G6 will perform similar. The two advantages that I see on the G6 are the camera and overall size. It looks like it will outperform the V20 camera but who knows at this point, however the smaller size would be a welcome feature after carrying around an iPhone 6s plus and Mate 9. The V20 is almost identical to the Mate 9 size wise. Again though, I dont want to buy another launch unit G6 and get burned by poor QC or whatever else creeps up so I would probably wait till June or July to get the G6. Im going to have to head down to T-Mobile and check the V20 out in person in a few.

The G6 is barely bigger than the G3, which the moar comfortable phone I ever used, whereas the V20 is huge no matter how you paint it. I'm saying go for the more comfortable, easy to use phone unless you actually need the benefits of a removable battery.

The curved edges and the ratio of the G6 are weird. Really weird. But I think it's something we'd all get used to. I like the idea of being able to easily use the phone one handed while still having a huge screen.

And if you're worried about quality control for the G6, what makes you think the V20 is any better?

Just based on the fact that its been out a while and the only real issue Ive seen is the camera glass. Generally when companies make drastic changes like the G6 has done it comes with some issues. There may not be any however and they may have excellent QC.

But I absolutely agree about the overall size being a huge bonus of the G6 and thats a huge reason Im interested in it. I may just buy the V20 so I can sell the Mate 9 and if the G6 has no major issues after the first few weeks Ill grab that and keep the V20 as a backup.

I got the V20 on the $360 deal, but $480 is still pretty solid.

Flagship phones around getting to the price point that I think I will just go all in on Jump On Demand

I will keep the V20 at $360, so I always have a backup or a phone to switch out to

You are not going to regret it.

I think Ive convinced myself to hold off and try the G6. I went to T-Mobile and tested out the V20 and it appears to be incredible. The only reason Im not getting it (maybe) is the size. I think I want to have a smaller phone for a while. If the guy at the store is correct, T-Mobile pre-orders start tomorrow so I may say screw it and just pre-order it.

The V20 will be a little bigger in size (taller actually). So the G6 will be better if you want a compact size. The main selling point for the V20 is the removable battery, quad DAC, and hi-fi mic for video/audio recording. I honestly don't think the V20 is much different in size from the G6, just a tad bit taller to fit the quad DAC in it, it's still a very thin device. Both are great choices, however, I think the V20 will be cheaper in price since it's been out for a while now.

Wish I got my V20 at that price! V20 way better than G6.

Yep, the V20 is back. Had the G6 less than 24 hours. Packed in the box and headed to UPS store in a little while.

The complaints continue over on XDA as well haha

It's crazy because you've complained a little about the V20, but this one is worse.. some of the pics in there were bad.

Yes, they are. Crazy. I think the sensor is really starting to show it's age. Not sure why LG can't use a newer Sony sensor.

If I had confidence they could fix it with an update, I'd consider keeping it. But I'm not sure it's possible.
