V20 not working with Android Auto after Sync 3 v3.0 update....Help?

Hi all.
I've noticed on several newer rental cars that my LGv20 doesn't work with Android Auto (message says android auto stopped responding). It worked on my personal vehicle, however. Yesterday I updated my Sync3 to version 3.0 (from 2.0) and it quit working on my personal vehicle. I get the same message (the google assistant screen lights up saying this could take a minute, then the screen turns red and says Android auto has quit responding and I'm forced to exit). Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any ideas? My phone has been buggy lately anyhow (home crashes, etc) but this is a big kink for me as I use the crap out of Android auto (and the phone in general.) Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Factory reset your V20 and also try updating your car's software on the stereo system. Refer to your stereo system's user manual for instructions.

Looks like I will hold off on the Sync 3 update. What did it add over Sync 2?

Any updates on getting the V20 to work with Sync 3 update. I am not having any issues without updating so unless Ford works out the issue I plan to NOT do the update.
 
I am downloading the Sync 3 update, not going to install it in my vehicle until I know the conflict it resolved. I thought I read your V20 need to have the Oreo update to work with Sync 3. Anyone confirm this?
 
My phone is receiving Oreo right now, hopefully android auto will still work. I plan to hold off sync 3 update for the time being unless android auto requires it.

Has anyone resolved this problem. I have not updated my vehicle to sync 3 but my phone has updated.
