V20 or G6?

I think I would go G6, but I'm not sure.

G6 Pros over V20
Display
Battery slightly larger
More popular device, will be more likely to have better support
Slightly newer SoC, not sure this matters
Sealed battery
No 2nd display

V20 Pros over G6
More storage
Audio
Not a glass body
Square 16:9 display

Same
Both have SD card, that's a negative against both.
Both lack DayDream ready certification for VR, not sure I care
Software and support are likely equal on both, but if they're not, edge goes to the G6
Camera - one may technically be better than the other, not sure. The V20 got some great reviews for video, people are liking the G6 for stills - seems like both are good.
Water resistance - technically the G6 is better on this front, but my amount of not caring is the same for both.

I think it would come down the the flip of a coin :) both are tremendous devices and I'm sure any customer would be happy with either of them. But if I had to choose, I would probably pick up the G6 until the V30 drops. Then it's back to the V-Series again :D Those thin bezels and 18:9 aspect ratio is very appealing.

I agree with this guy except for the appeal of the long aspect ratio :)

I have the V20 soooooooo um yea.....V20. Both are great devices though!

If you want a smaller device, go for G6.

If you want a bigger, more MANLIER device, then go for V20.

Agree with @GrooveRite, the V20 is a husky device, beefy even, but the G6 is very slick. If you want to be able to one-hand your device efficiently, I'd go with the G6. I've had both and decided on keeping the G6. Here are my pros/cons for both

G6 Pros:

- Large, 5.7" display in a small form factor with minimal bezels
- Can be used one-handed without issue
- Good battery life
- No curved display (I find this to be very gimmicky)

G6 Cons:

- No qslide calculator (if someone has figured out how to sideload it, please let me know)
- Unable to hide home buttons in apps
- No IR blaster

V20 Pros:

- Second screen is useful (but can become too much to manage)
- Able to sideload the qslide calculator
- IR blaster
- Able to hide home buttons in apps

V20 Cons:

- Large form factor
- Battery life barely got me through one workday
- Unable to efficiently use the device one-handed

I can live with most of the pros and cons you list, however I don't see how having SD card capability could be a negative. Even if I were convinced that it was I could always choose to not use it. Enlighten me....

LG G6

821 vs 820 processor (which is barley an advantage but an advantage none the less.)

Same screen area of 5.7" (although the V20 is 16-9 and the G6 18-9)

IP68 water and dust resistant. LG V20 has a removable battery and no water resistance.

Much smaller body. The V20 is a tank.

Higher pixel density for a better resolution. 561ppi vs 513ppi

3300mAh vs 3200mAh battery.

The only gripe I have is that the G6 comes with no more than 32gb out of the box but that's cured with an SD card.

32 gigabyte is not cured by an SD card if you install a lot of apps.

Even with moving alot of them to the SD card? I moved some the other day and opened up 2 gigs. I've only got about 60 installed right now but still have like 16gigs free. I can't imagine another 60 apps on my phone.

I'm not a fan of installing apps on an SD card. I only put music, video, photos, docs, etc. On SD.

64 GB should be the standard these days.

Nah, it'll derail the thread :p For me it's a negative, for most people's it's a positive or neutral.

So then technically it is cured, you just don't like it. I agree though, 64 should be the new standard but not totally necessary.

I didn't say that it's technically cured.... I've found issues with running apps on SD. That's more than just liking or disliking something. It doesn't always work, but if it works for you that's all that matters.

Tyler is saying that it IS cured. You just don't like that the standard isn't higher. The fix for storage is there, you just don't like that it's been implemented that way and I totally get that. Next year I'm sure 32gb will finally be obselete as a choice by manufacturers. I love having an SD card. If the phones turns to a brick, I still have all my personal things available to back up to my computer.

Well cured in my book means cured for everyone and works transparently. I love having the SD card as well... but with 64 as a base.

There was an article a while ago that showed the highest selling phone was the smallest capacity iPhone. With cloud storage becoming the norm (Google Photos), and the majority of people buying the smaller version phone when multiple option are available, 32gb of storage is not considered small. Unfortunately we on here are in the severe minority when it comes to storage sizes. Samsung made the push this year to go 64gb, imo, not because they wanted or needed to but because of all the unlocked phones that are taking away from their profits. OnePlus, Huawei, ZTE etc. They decided to match the competition anyway they could. I would be willing to bet that the amount of android users who install enough apps to fill a 32gb phone would be far less than 1%. I personally would have to install over 200 apps on the G6 to fill it. The amount of people who install 200 apps is extremely low Id bet.

People buying low capacity IPhones does not set the standard. My Droid Maxx had 32 GB and that's an old phone.

I had the same debate. But for me it came down to the higher quality wide angle camera and newer phone will get more software updates. So I went with the G6. The size of the V20 also deterred me from getting it.
