Verizon 2XL on AT&T, Anyone?

Yeah I thought you were all Apple at this point in time. My issue with the iX is the cost. It's a great device otherwise. But it's like $1400+ after AppleCare Plus and tax for a 256gb model. And, like you, I'm not invested in Apple at all. The blue shift on the XL is a non-issue for me.

I paid for the X upfront and that was a mistake. A phone shouldn't cost more than a computer. But despite the X's great hardware, it was just another iPhone. Yawn.

I'm looking forward to using the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL. Hopefully they'll be as good as everyone says they are.

I thought the only thing "Verizon" about the different phones that can be purchased was that it came with a Verizon sim but otherwise the phones were identical?
The Verizon bootloader is locked. The Google version isn't.

Otherwise.. they're 100% identical.

I had a google version 2xl a few weeks back, but I sent it back due to blue shift. I ordered the OnePlus 5T, and its been a great phone, but there is just something about a pixel. So, I orderd another 2XL yesterday. I was debating on ordering from google, or just running up the street and grabbing a Best Buy one. I should have it Monday. Thanks all for all the info.

I've been mostly enjoying my X, but I just can't get passed the price. People say the XL is expensive but I'm still saving $300+ going to a fully loaded XL with the protection plan.

And I agree about the hardware being great but still being iOS. It's like they have this really nice forward thinking phone with the same OS from 2010. And there are some things that just don't make sense. No battery percentage in the status bar. And you also don't have your Bluetooth icon or DND icon up there. And it really shouldn't be that confusing to turn off a smartphone these days.

That is what I said but some disagreed. I get liking iPhone but it really is an iPhone just as much as the 8. The few changes are only there due to the home button not being there otherwise it wouldn't have changed.

Exactly. I mean, if you cover the notch, you wouldn't be able to tell if it's an iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7 Plus, etc. Sure, there's gestures that control closing apps (and clunky gestures they are, not very fluid), but that's it. It still has the closed ecosystem and the same looking UI as every other iPhone.

I think I'm going to go with the stormtrooper Pixel 2 XL just for the bigger screen and battery life.

The last sentence is especially true. Whenever I needed to turn off my phone, I couldn't figure it out because the power button activates Siri. It's stupid. I don't know who approved the gestures, but they're clunky and not very intuitive. I shouldn't have to press and hold to close apps. One can just close them on the 8 Plus. And flicking up on the lock screen once the phone is unlocked makes no sense.

I don't miss the X at all. It's a bunch of half-baked ideas thrown together.

Yeah. There really are some questionable things with it. I feel like they just made changes because they literally hadn't changed anything in years. And I don't feel like the screen or camera is much better than the 6s Plus was before it. I think I'm going to try the 2XL too, for the battery life and screen too.

Re: Verizon 2XL on AT&T, Anyone?

I was wondering this as well because I wanted to buy my wife the Kinda Blue version but it seems it's only available for the Verizon version at the moment. Looks like It'll be fine using it on AT&T.

What was it about the Pixel that won you over the OnePlus 5T? I've debated on that phone also.

I just bought a Pixel 2 XL from best buy. When I got home it said I had an update waiting but I switched sims to my AT&T one and started to set up my phone. No update for me. So I put in the pre-installed Verizon sim card and got the November security update easy peasy then stuck my AT&T sim back in. I've tried both sims since and neither is set for the 8.1 update but I'm gonna keep the Verizon sim handy and try it every few days if the AT&T one doesn't get the update. Annoying but only slightly. Plus the AT&T sim may just need a few days to register on the network with Google to get the updates. I'm not worried.

Mainly the updates, however, since 5t now has the gestures in the beta, I prefer the 5t over anything else out there.
