Just got my Verizon 3g model. I have read all the threads and altered settings. Basically everything is turned off but Bluetooth. And the watch is not set up with a number through Verizon. Battery is still horrible. Went from 100 percent charge to dead in under 4 hours. Screen brightness at 3, WiFi is off, call forwarding is off, NFC is off, sound is off, and no applications have been installed. My question is, are these units know for defective batteries? From everything I'm seeing I don't know what else could be the issue?

Ya that definitely doesn't seem right. I just got mine last Wednesday and did pretty much what you've done to yours for the best battery life and mine lasts me all day.

I must have bad luck. I purchased the same watch upon launch. Had the same issues so I just returned it. I just assumed it was a defective unit. Found one cheap on eBay last week so I though I would give it another shot. Loons like I may return to Android wear as much as I hate to.

Make sure Settings/Connections/Mobile Networks/Gear Network is set to Auto or Always Off since you did not activate it.

I have also heard that it will last longer after a couple of battery drains and charge.

I have it set to always off. I'll give it a couple days. Thanks

What watch face are you using? If not the one that was on it from the box try switching to the one from the box. Some watch faces are battery hogs.

I am using the stock Nike watch face. Today it has been like a new watch. I didn't change anything. Been off the charger for 7.5 hours and I have 70% charge left. I'm thinking it just took a few days to sync up maybe.
