Verizon - 4G plans - Business email

Hello All,

I'm currently a Blackberry user considering an upgrade to the Razr Maxx. My current plan includes unlimited data that I will be able to keep if I make the move. Is there any reason why I need to have the "business email" option since I will no longer going to be using the BES server with Blackberry? From what I can tell, I believe I should be able to connect to our corp exchange server. (This is confirmed by out IT dept. They are suggesting I get an iphone or android) Why do I need to pay Verizon the extra 15 dollars a month?

Thank in advance!

I would bet that your current data plan is $44.99 and has the unlimited data bundled with the BB Exchange Server access. The features are not separate, so if you want to stop paying the extra $15, you'll need to switch your data plan. They don't offer the unlimited web and email plan for $29.99 but you could always ask/plead and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, you have 2 options:

1) Switch to the new $30 2 GB data plan, if you get an Iphone or other 3g phone or $30 for 4 GB plan, if you get a 4G Android phone.

2) Keep your existing plan and keep your unlimited data for $44.99

If it was my decision and I was unable to get switched to the $29.99 unlimited plan, I would choose option 2, and, while not thrilled, would continue to pay the extra $15 to keep unlimited data, but I've had months of 3 GB, 5 GB, 7 GB, and, while on vacation a couple weeks ago, 13 GB.

Normally, I use 2 to 3 GB, but I value my unlimited plan and it allows me to use my phone in ways I couldn't if I didn't have unlimited.

Only you can decide how valuable your unlimited plan is to you.

Thanks for the response. You are correct. I do receive a corporate discount so if I keep the plan, it will cost about 38 dollars for unlimited. I'm also on a 15 dollar tethering plan. They are offering me 30 dollar unlimited hotspot.

Suppose they do give me the plan for 30 dollars, is their anything from a phone or plan perspective that would stop me form accessing exchange email? Can Verizon check to see if you are using corp email?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if Verizon has a way of checking to see if you are using corporate email and if they do, they may not care. I use Touchdown for my Exchange email, and haven't heard one peep from Verizon.
