I like many went to buy a Incredible. I am stuck with Verizon and the Incredible is out of stock unitl the 26th.

So, my question is:

With the other new devices e.g. moto x etc....

Is this a blessing for all of us that have to wait and we not buy the Incredible and go after something else?

Or will the Incredible stand up fine against other Droid's that come out this summer ?

thx

rt

The DROIDs coming out this summer are still part of the third gen of Android devices.

I don't think they will be dramatically better. I think the Incredible is fine, and will be fine. There is obviously a lot of people buying one, since it is backordered so far out.

The biggest difference seems to be the screen size and the keyboard.

Plus, the new DROIDs may be running with an update Motoblur. Bad thing? I guess it's very opinionated but to me it is. Sense or Vanilla, the real contenders.

There was another thread on here somewhere, where they were currently in stock. Maybe that has changed, but....

But six months after, 2.5 GHz will be promised.

Technology is about vetting the best you that is available at the time, the one that does everythig you need and fits your lifestyle, and not look back afterwards.

If you always want the best, you will forever be waiting.

And it's Motorola who wants the 2GHz phones, not Samsung.

If you look any further out than 3 months in tech you will always be behind......

August and July I believe are the months stated now for the X and Droid 2, and it seems reasonably correct. The only decision you need to make is if you want a keyboard, or blur. Personally I don't but it's all a matter of personal taste. I suggest you start reading a lot of Android device news from various sites.

Shipped Early

If it helps, they appear to be overestimating how long it will take to ship. They told me the 17th, and I got the shipping notification today, 6 days early.

Very very true. That why I say, if you're gonna wait for something on Verizon, wait for a LTE Android phone. At least then you will have it all. Cause Incredible, Moto X, and Droid2, owners may be on the same level now, but by then it'll be over.

it depends. engadget has some leaked specs on future Motorola phones with android but to be blunt, motoblur is the worst use of android I have ever seen and if you're really looking to have the newest and greatest, you're going to have to upgrade constantly. I'd say wait until they come into stock and by that time, new phones should be out and you'll have a field day picking from phones

So true my friend, It used to be every 3 years. Mobile providers will have to cut their renewal times if they want to push all these new devices.

Yes, yes they do.

1 year, tops. 2 years is crazy for how fast technology moves now. I hate how slow to react the carriers are.

One thing that I give Apple major props for is making (yes, forcing) AT&T to allow all iPhone customers with an upgrade this year to get the iPhone 4 at launch.

This needs to happen on more carriers, with more companies doing it.

OP I was in the same boat but I ordered my Incredible yesterday anyway as it was officially the day my new every two came due (haha, that rhymed). I posed a very similar question to the customer service gentleman taking my order and he simply informed me of Verizon's 30-day return policy. He said my phone is estimated to ship on the 30th of June. Once I get receive it if for any reason I want to return it for a another phone I have 30 days to do so but I will have to incur a $35 restocking fee. I'll just see what develops in July.

I think my Incredible was worth the wait. I was out of contract with Verizon from May 2009 until April 2010. At the time my contract ended, none of the phones Verizon was offering were especially attractive to me. When the Moto Droid came out, I took a look at it, but really didn't like the physical keyboard. I liked the Droid Eris much better. I was ready to buy that phone, until I found out that the most recent Android OS was 2.0 (at that time) and the Eris was being sold with Android 1.6. With the old OS, there was no Google Navigation and because of Android, Vz Navigator was incompatible and unavailable. So, no Eris for me.

The Incredible had all the features I wanted and more. As soon as I heard about it, I knew that it was the phone for me. I bought the phone in April knowing that this summer is really the beginning of the Android march of phones and lots more phones will come out that will eclipse the Incredible. The grass always is greener - especially with tech. But for me, there is a value in having the Incredible right now, rather than waiting on the Droid Xtreme or Shadow or whatever other phone comes down the pike. At some point, the advantage of getting the current phone outweighs the advantage of waiting for the newest phone. Only you can know when the timing is right to take the plunge.

The general rule of tehnology is: don't buy until you really need it. considering the Inc is on backorder I would wait till next month unless you need a phone now. And if that's the case, you might want to look at the Droid or the Evo on Sprint.

Well depends on how you spend your money. Some people buy ahead to stay current and expandable in the future (IE the Inc). Some people buy because it's the latest thing to have (IE the EVO), some people wait until they really need a new piece of IT (IE August or July). But by the time you have waited and you got the latest and greatest you have to already start the cycle again.

Quite frankly Android phones are moving at a pace right now you will only be king of the hill for a few months, maybe even weeks, before some other device knocks you down. And it will remain that way until the buying frenzy with Android phones slow down and they return to a new every 6 months to a year cycle.

So now the real question, do you want an Incredible? Or do you want to wait a bit longer and get one of the new devices? I think the choice is easy, how badly do you need a new phone? If you can wait I would wait, but I will say the Incredible is one heck of a phone. Just decide drop your hand in whatever basket you wish and be happy, regardless you will be happy with whatever you end up getting. I have yet to talk with ANY Android phone user that isn't happy with their device.

I think Qazme has it right. Need and function trumps fashion except when it comes to "hobbyists".

my new every 2 is due in august and i'm dying to get rid of my bb curve...the timing is right for me, as i should have my choice of the incredible, droid x and droid 2.

the leader in the clubhouse for me at this point is the incredible...i prefer its design the most out of the 3 to be honest...
