So is anyone bothered by Verizon's embrace with Bing?

They replaced google with bing on the fascinate, and I suspect that may be the case with us on the DX when Froyo lands.

Personally, I don't like it, but with that said, I only use google.com on my DX not the widget or built in search.

Not to be rude, but do you read the front page at all? Both Verizon and Microsoft indicate that the deal is not for all Verizon smart phones.

I would be POed if they did that without the option to change it. I have tried bing and just do not like it, it is not bad but I do not want it forced on me.

Flip your phone over. See those little white letters that say "with GoogleTM"?

What does it matter...we've only got about 1 year left before the world ends anyway. There are bigger things to worry about that have not yet happened.

this has been debunked already bing will not be on the top o' the line android devices, you know the ones with "Droid" in there name kinda like the Droid X

afaik any of the google experience devices should not have bing preloaded on them.

so long as you have 2.2 though, it's not really an issue since you can d/l the google search widget. personally i don't really care so long as i get the results i want.

plus with root access and even the level of access we have to the bootloader now (hopefully it's going to be fully cracked soon) it makes it even less of an issue since you can just load a rom that doesn't have it on there.

mountainman, was the app actually pushed to your phone or did you just see it in the market? i don't think verizon can push apps to the phone without an update with android, it's not like blackberry where apps (or rather links to apps) can be added to the phone whenever they want.

as its already been said verizon will only be pushing bing for its multimedia phones (highend dumbphones) and perhaps some low level smartphones but even the fascinate will be recieving the google search option in its froyo update from the community backlash. so they might add the option for future devices but they certainly wont force it again.

Verizon forced Bing on BlackBerries last year, but you could still download the Google app and use that for searches.

I had bing magically appear on my DX. I have since deleted it, and its nice that I can. I'm concerned once froyo hits, I'll not have a choice to remove it
