Verizon black leather second thoughts...

Thanks for thoughts on this inadvance...This will probably sound a bit confused as that is what I am....I'm coming from a RAZR MAXX that has lived in an Otterbox commuter...Dropped many times and no scratches nor cracked screen in about 2.5 years of use. Here are my dilemmas:

1. As I got the black leather back, it seems my case options are limited unless I got out and buy a plastic back. Are the phones that fragile that they'll shatter when dropped? I've got insurance, but the deductible is so high, I'm not sure it makes much sense....

2. Would the circle folio that can be used with the leather back provide enough protection?

3. Do the limitations of functions really make much difference on the usability of the phone?

My main reason for purchasing the phone was the camera, battery life and extra battery offer. I'm wondering if I should just be looking at a different phone altogether or the plastic back version. Switching carriers is not an option at this time.

With respect (and I say this genuinely because I'm not looking to start a war) I think those who are getting the leather backs should almost expect to be "case-less." If you do however want a case, go with a plastic back and cover it (with the case). I went with the plastic back thinking it would give me options with cases. However, I plan to also buy a leather back and will probably use it full time.

I have the black leather on Sprint and the Verus verge case fits it just fine. Maybe a little tight but it works.
The Spigen Neo Hybrid worked also. Same thing, a little tight.

Agreed....I have the plastic but have ordered the brown leather with the full understanding that I will be "caseless" and will need to be careful.
Everything in life is a compromise......

Personally I am happy with the clear case and leather back. I have a plastic back too but I prefer the look of the leather.

Well, I went down to Best Buy to get the Circle LG since that seemed to fit for another here on the forum. But the packaging said, "Not Compatible with with LG G4 genuine leather version" Farfignughen! I decide to get it and the Otterbox Commuter which said the same thing....

Turns out the Commuter fits just fine so either they put that on their for whatever reason or the Verizon version is Genuine leather....It done me right on my old phone, so they get my business...My guess is that they all would work with the leather...at least the Verizon leather, which is OK, but clearly not the way to go if you want to use a case.

Of course the case makes it a bit bigger, but it's already much larger than where I was coming from it doesn't really matter.

good points...I was hoping to go caseless but I know that the odds of me not dropping the phone on something hard is a million to one....The leather is cool looking but isn't so tacky that it provides much better grip...as it is the otterbox isn't super grippy so I might have to do some alterations....

I guess getting leather and putting a case on it defeats the purpose...but after I ordered it I realized that I cared more about the screen not cracking than I did the cool factor of the leather back...maybe I'll cut a piece of leather and put it on the back of the otterbox!!!

Exactly this!

The ballistic jewel case has lots of grip. I can hold it nearly vertical
