Verizon Droid Charge - How to skip SIM initialization?

I'm not going to have a sim card for at least a week, and I've seen several shortcuts of ways to get through sim initialization on other phones. These methods were something like touching the edges of the screen in a certain pattern and hitting the next button.

Is there any such bypass for the Charge, or can I perhaps do some rooting / flashing to bypass it?
