And by early, I mean by middle of March at the latest. Is there a timetable - something in the past that we can go by - that gives us a hint as to when we might expect another "big" device to hit?

I'm just fed up with this Galaxy Nexus stuff. I'm not leaving Verizon. Here are my options as I see them:

1) sticking with my current phone (Droid 1) until around Feb/March and seeing what is out then
2) Getting an iphone and then later possibly selling it before the iphone5 is released and buying something with ICS or the iphone 5
3) waiting to see how this Galaxy Nexus turns out - if it is a good device or a truly great device

Right now I'd buy a SGII if it was on Verizon because it seems to have a lot of what I want (great camera, great big screen, etc.), and I'd love to know if a SGII was going to make it to Verizon.

I'm in a very similiar boat.. GS2 would be an easy choice for me. Gnex is also an option.. but I think I may just wait a bit for a better phone.

Motorola Bullet, Samsung GS3, LG Spectrum, HTC Ville (I believe), and a few others are rumored to be coming soon.

Also theirs the Motorola RazrMax.. if that phone comes out soon it will also be on my radar.

The thing is those phones aren't going to come for months. Verizon is always the last to get phones.(except the nexus)

Thanks for the rumored phone names - I'm gonna Google them now!

I'm in the same situation too... have an upgrade due in another week or two... I'm gonna wait and see what the CES show brings in January... that usually sets the tone for the first half of the year as far as what to expect.

I was going to use an early upgrade to get the Nexus after initial reviews from users came in and then Black_Man_X posts about a Stock ICS Motorola phone to be intorduced at CES.......I'm waiting for that now. Love Moto build quality and radios.

Need to find out what he is referring to. Wondering if this is the bullet. Just hope it doesn't have the Tegra as I prefer the OMAPs personally.

Even if it is stock, that does not necessarily mean updates will come right from google. Look at the Original Droid. Updates still took awhile with verizon testing them. I got a nexus not for cutting edge specs but for updates first. I hope moto wises up and goes stock and stops encrypting their bootloaders. That would put them back in the thick of things with samsung if they did that.

I hoping for a Tegra 3 Motorola running ICS. That may very well be the next Nexus...

My contract expired in September. If they had released the Nexus when the big Google/Samsung event happened I would have got it immediately. Now I'm thinking along the same lines as you guys. I've got a Droid 2 I bought used back in March that's working fine. The Gnex is still an option, but I can afford to wait a month or three.

I think moto would stick with omap since that is what most of their other new high end devices have and that is what google used as the test standard for ics so maybe it would be easier to get it working with their phones if they stick with omap?

Yeah, I want to see what's coming out in the next few months before I make my move. Hopefully a great Moto phone with removable battery on Verizon...

Nice to know that I am not alone on this - I'm elig. for the discount upgrade at the end of the month - but I am not all that impressed with the reviews and call issues the nexus forums are pumping out - I am very spoiled that I get perfect reception and clarity on my LG Ally and the speakerphone is 2nd in loudness only to the Casio GZ'One Commando.

The Sammy Stratosphere is a lame and disappointing slight spec upgrade to my nearly 2yr old phone which boggles the mind...

I hope CES and other Expos like it come up with some truly inspiring, exciting and impressively specced phones that are clear, concise and loud for calls & rate at least 8 out of 10 stars in other features (4GB system ram min., SAMOLED HD Gorilla Glass, 3g and LTE, SDmicro/USB, 8mp cam w flash and at least a 4"scrn)

add an HDMI out and I think this is the phone that everyone wants, not necessarily cutting edge, but a phone that has everything.

The Nexus is on my radar but it seems as if there is no support for the reported problems that it does have (Radios, camera, notification light, volume). Why do I need a custom ROM or an app that fixes those problems when they should have been right out of the gate.

end rant.

on topic, my contract was up in July and I'm still waiting for the phone that has everything and that does it well.

I'm seriously hoping tomorrow delivers. An "announcement" of the Droid4 and Razr Maxx is not what I had in mind.
