Verizon Early Edge trick/scam

Well then i take that back lol not bad as long as you pay the phone off. What if you pay it off before that time.

Thanks
You can pay the device off in full at any time

When I signed up, they also would allow people to pay some up front. I was about to, but I found out it wouldn't reduce the monthly payment like on a car loan. If the device payment is $30/month, that's what it is no matter if you pay zero down or half. It does mean you'll just pay it off earlier.

That's pretty dumb

Actually it is not from their side of the table. Keeps the set up and billing process standard for all of their customers. Do you even want to think about the result of their well trained staff setting up different down payment amounts and billing amounts for the thousands of customers?

Sorry if this was already discussed but when you pay off the phone on Edge and decide to keep using it, do you still get the 25 discount off the line charge? I'm guessing not....

Hi,

I'm looking into the Verizon Edge, and not sure if I'm calculating this correctly?

We will have 3 smartphones to activate and one basic phone in our plan:

$40.00 Line charge Edge
$40.00 Line charge Edge
$40.00 Line charge Edge
$20.00 basic phone
$40.00 Smartphone (upgrade 2/2016)

Going with the Edge $40.00 minus $15.00 = $25.00 credit for a new phone. For 3 new Edge activations, would my line charge still be the same at $40.00 or do I get the line credit?

6 gigs data for $70.00

If I go with the LG G3, at Verizon the Edge value is $22.91 per month. I would not have to owe anything because $25.00 credit minus $22.91 = - $2.09 ?

If I go with the iPhone 6 (64 gb), the Edge value is $31.24 per month. I would have to owe because $25.00 credit minus $31.24 = $6.24 ?

In Verizon Edge FAQ - it states I could make a down payment. Would this reduce my monthly payment? If so, by how much and how do you calculate the down payment?

This Verizon Edge plan is little bit intimidating for some....

Thanks

Numbers look right. The $25 discount is applied so long as you aren't on contract. You can put an old phone on the line and go month to month on the line and still very the discount. As for the down payment, it doesn't reduce the monthly payment. I don't really see a reason to put a down payment, financially speaking

I was on edge back when it was the 50% and 60% terms. Stopped after it was bumped up yet again n to 75%. I edged to get the moto x then the note 3. Each time I was given the opportunity to give a one time down payment which did reduce my monthly payments.

Stupid (?) question...kinda new here on the ANDROID forum...but why are there threads about iPhones on an ANDROID forum??? Just curious...?

This Verizon forum is more focused on the carrier then the phones.

What no one mentions is that you return the phone to early edge but you also pay them a substantial amount of money as well. I wanted to turn in my note 4 to try out the nexus 6. I was told I had to return the phone as well as give Verizon @ $450 to be able to start a new edge agreement. So I asked if I could trade phones with someone. I was told that I "didn't want to do that" with no further explanation. I honestly regret having moved to the edge plan. It would really be cheaper to buy a phone outright for me and use month to month

Yes all this is known. As of now, you have to pay off 75% of the phone before you edge to a new phone. Edge is no different than buying it full retail, you simply have monthly payments until its paid off. Obviously you can buy it full retail, without edge. Then sell it, recoup, then get another phone anytime you like. edge isn't a scam, if you don't read the agreement, its not Verizon's fault.

Re: Verizon Early Edge- no need to return the contract priced phone.

The only time you have to return the previous phone is if you want to stop paying for the current Verizon Edge phone and upgrade to a new Verizon Edge phone(you lose the current Edge program phone- as it must be returned in good condition- with the conditions that you paid off 75% of the price and start making payments on the new phone- you would not owe the remaining 25% (or last 6 months of payments) of the previous Edge program phone). You are able to do this once you pay off at least 75% of the Edge program phone or 18 months of normal payments. Your current phone is a "contract" phone which means you own it completely and do not have to return it. What you did by going on the Edge program for the new phone is start your 24 months of payments on the new phone(the full price divided by 24 = the amount paid every month- there is no interest charged on Verizon's Edge program). You may still be on the remaining one year of contract from the last phone or whatever was left on that contract assuming it is not waved. Verizon Edge does not have a contract but you must pay for the full price of the phone over 24 months. Still even with the higher phone price you pay less with Verizon edge over the course of 24 months, especially when you use the higher 10 gigs of data per month because that saves you 25 dollars a month per line over the contract phone service price. Over the course of 24 months even with the higher edge phone price you do save in that case with the full-priced edge program phone.

To: goodapollo They told you wrong at Verizon. As long as the phone you get by swapping phones with your friends or family or anyone for that matter or by buying their phone is compatible with the frequencies used with Verizon or you know it works on Verizon you have every right to use it and will get the month to month discount. There is supposed to be ZERO down with Verizon edge if you have been making payments on time for 6 months. They charged you a deposit because you paid some late. You could have alternatively awaited 6 months in uninterrupted on time payments to have gone by. This would start the last payment you made on time. Then there would be no deposit.

I just pre-ordered the GS6 and got Verizon Edge. I didn't know that I had to turn in my old Moto X. It does have some cracks on the sides of the phone. Everything else is fine. I think the Verizon sales rep said if they don't accept the trade in, I get charged for the GS6 full price. But if that happens do I go back to my old plan? And what are the odds they DON'T take my old Moto X? Also, can I cancel this order and keep my old plan? Thanks.
