Verizon Galaxy 10.1 Note conversion from Verizon system?

I have a Verizon Galaxy 10.1 note tablet & we are switching our cell service to AT&T. I would prefer to continue to use this device instead of investing more money into a new tablet. Is it possible to replace the Sim Card to make it compatible with another system? Or any other suggestions. I don't want to loose stuff downloaded to this unit.
