Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

Yeah, the launch of the Xyboard completely squashed the idea that the outage was the issue for the delay...at least for me. I'm back to the "I don't know what the heck" side of things. I hate to put my tinfoil hat on but...yeah..

But hey, at least we can order a Xyboard!

Sorry, how does The Xyboard squash that idea? VZW isn't going to move that many Xyboards compared to the number of Nexii they are going to move. It's also not nearly as high profile as the launch of a Google backed Nexus device.

Either way... I'm not convinced that the 4G outage was the sole reason... it may be more complicated than a singular reason. There are probably a few people at VZW that know the reason but they aren't connected to us.

I hit a Harrisburg PA store this morning at 0800 and the manager said they swapped the XYBOARD and Nexus dates due to the 4G issue. When pressed about the Nexus date, he said he could not tell me. I asked if it was Monday the 12th and he said no. I asked about next Thursday and he did not respond at all.

May check BB and the shack this morning as well...

I would agree that they're not going to sell all that many XYboards anyway, but if the Nexus came out today, I'd guess they would sell somewhere between 0 and a very small number of them. Next up will be the Nexus push back to let the Droid 4 release on the 22nd.

Of course you're right they're not going to move that many Xyboards but something just doesn't add up to me. As you say, it's probably one piece of a bigger picture that we'll never get to see. Botched OTA? Google Wallet/NFC? Lower than expected inventory? Something else entirely?

I think it would be very interesting to see the details of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus story behind the scenes. I'd pay to see that documentary or read that book.

What F%^king idiot is going to walk into a Verizon store to buy a phone and walk out with a tablet instead. I pray that another carrier gets it first and Verizon loses a lot of customers to a different provider. They have seriously dropped the ball in my opinion.

I called last night and two stores told me they would not be selling today. I guess I could go check them out in person at lunch, but since I'm on west coast, I may wait until I read the forums first to see what luck those on the opposite coast have had.

I was hoping to have better luck when calling in, since I've never had any 4G loss over the course of the week like the other regions have. But then again that assumes the 4G issues were the cause, which I don't buy either.

Since I was out shopping for Christmas I decided to do some snooping.

Best Buy had no info.

Radio Shack one tried to lecture me that the Galaxy and Nexus were two different devices.
Radio Shack 2 found it on their system. They called another local store who had it in stock but told it was not to be sold until further instructions were received.

Costco didn't have it yet. They had the display fake and let me hold it.

Second best buy I just called also has no info.

I will attempt this again next week. Sigh.

Just had the FedEx drop off my new GSM Galaxy nexus! He actually looked like Santa. lol

This thing is beautiful. And it says Google instead of Verizon. I hope you all get your phone soon. I paid a lot for peace of mind, I know. But I get to keep my unlimited plan with AT&T for the next few months and get a new phone this summer. Peace. :-*

The Nexus challenge is over. I remember when it started no one thought the Galaxy Nexus still wouldn't' be available when it was over.

What a joke. This phone should have been out three weeks ago.

They eventually added the ability to select the next character without the screen having to lift back up. It was still a painful experience. I was dumb enough to get the Storm2, and continued my sufferage. But nothing else was out by Verizon until Droid came out but was still a bit untested. Now look at BB and Droid. Its been an amazing couple years!

Both Verizon stores and Best Buy said they didn't have any stock, marketing material nor had any idea of a launch date. However, at the tiny little authorized dealer in the tiny little town I live in out side of Portland has 2 phones in stock and said the Verizon rep was there yesterday, but didn't have an exact date the phone is going to launch, just said this month. They did say though that the delay is because of a software issue. I asked if he would sell me one, but said they couldn't because they would loose their Verizon contract, so I asked if I could put my name on one and they did.

Well my droid 2 died today. No one can hear me but I can hear them. I have done a hard reset, updated roaming, battery pull, you name it. ein disgust I threw it on the counter top and of course cracked the screen. Asurion has replacements in stock and would cost me 100 dollars, not going to spend that for a droid 2. Since the screen is broken I can not get a replacement from Verizon. What do I do? I could go buy a phone and return it when the Nexus comes out, that just feels shady to me. I looked on CL and eBay and can't find anything in the 75 or less range that I could buy to hold me over and I do not know of any friends that have upgraded and have an old 3G phone laying around. i use to have two extra phones but gave them to people who needed phones and now I have only my pos Droid 2.

It irritates me I can go to Radio Shack and hold the phone and they can not sell it to me.....

I feel your pain brother, my DX back arrow button is just about wore out and it is so laggy. I keep thinking that I have made it only to have another delay each time. As far as the breaking the screen, I would have done it too. You should see some of my printer/scanners after I teach them a lesson It may not make much sense but does wonders for stress reduction. I would hit up some friends for whatever I could get my hands on and hope this is the last delay we are in. Good luck!
