Verizon GS4 Kit Kat Update?

My battery sucks always has this update made no noticeable improvement to me. But I'm not terribly tech savvy I just want a phone I can use and not have to keep attached to a frigging charger . How can samsung health count my steps if phone is on desk charging lmao!!

That's funny. So true.
This phone has a beautiful screen, but that's it. I yearn for my HTC Thunderbolt. Maybe I'll get an iPhone? But never another Samsung. Hell . . . I may not buy another Samsung product period.
POS.

So far battery life seems better to me. I've had my s4 for about a year now and the kitkat update seems to have improved the battery. I'm running the google now launcher with location services on and the battery is doing just fine. Overall I like the simple Ui tweaks. Also not sure if this makes a difference but I've done this for the Android 4.3 update and, now, the 4.4 update. Before I even download the update I make sure that all my apps are updated from the play store. Secondly I restart my phone (the actual restart option). I then download the update itself. Restart the phone again, then install the update immediately. After installation is complete I again restart the phone. I've done this exact same thing for the last two updates and I did not experience any of the issues found in 4.3 and (so far) none in 4.4. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the advice, but could you please elaborate on what you mean by download then restart then install? I thought once we select to do the update it automatically & subsequently installs? Please help me understand, thank you.

Battery life seems the same to me. As long as it gets me through one day, I'm fine. I did notice that it takes longer to shut down now. I'm also having trouble receiving text messages. Three times yesterday, the message was not able to download and a picture message I was sent a few minutes ago wouldn't download as well. Never had this problem. Same thing happened with my girlfriend after she updated with ATT more than a month before I did. Kind of sad because Verizon says they take forever fixing all the bugs which is why it takes so long but they obviously haven't. My phone also still lags/delays when I type in search engines and stuff. So yeah, I've noticed really no difference in performance but a couple annoying issues. Might be moving to ATT after my contract is over in a few months.
