Folks

I ordered a GN3 for in store pickup, fianc? went to go pick it up (she is furloughed nothing else better to do) and I was going to transfer my nexus microsim over to the GN3.

They were giving her issues saying the sim won't fit at all because one is a NFC sim (I know it will work just fine with my sim from my nexus) and the other isn't so I told her to put me on the phone with the manager. I told the manager I don't want to activate any sim (used another line to get this phone) and I just want the phone and I will take care of the rest. Manager insisted there is no way possible for her to leave the store without activating a NFC sim and then I can put my sim when I go home.

As I didn't want her trip to the store to be in vein I said yes but don't put it on the current phone as its being used just activate it then deactivate it (dumb imho)

any whose she went on to say this is because its IN STORE only otherwise you wouldnt need to if you did it thru the mail (which is true, they would send you a SIM and you wouldn?t use it, you?d just put your current sim in and it would work).

Just wondering if anyone knows the process and if this is true?

I believe they are, you just have to file it down a little and it will fit in the GN3 according to another thread. Regardless of that is it a policy that the store has to activate a phone. I bought it on contract and everything.

I had an issue with a BB store in Northern Colorado.. I wanted to purchase an i5S and wanted it to remain unopened to resale and they wouldn't sell me the phone without opening the box, activating the SIM and confirming the phone was activated.. Various managers (District/Store/Mobile/Mobile Call Center Sup) stated that it is store policy for them to activate a phone w/ SIM before you leave the store. I hate dealing with in store reps, most are clueless! Back to mail orders ONLY!

On a side note, my N3 will be delivered tomorrow and got $50 off.. Coupon code (VERIZONDEAL)

Sent from my iPhone 5S

Verizon Sim for the note 3 has the NFC built into it...couldn't use the one from my note 2 this morning at the store and had to use the one that came with the phone.

The Sim Does not Actually have NFC inside of it, what it has it security coding to make NFC compliant with verizon's ISIS program/standards.

I took my Sim out from my Nexus and poped it right in my phone (no editing even) and it work just fine.

Lol, that's what I was trying to say. Thanks for clarifying.

FWIW, we had an extra line with an S4 on it which we upgraded to a GN3 today. I had the s4 in my bag and she refused to give a new sim and insisted she use the s4 sim. Not sure why or what but this rep hated her job and life today and I was there to feel it. But I digress.

In a Verizon store, if you take a phone out of our inventory we cannot let you leave without activating the phone. It's to protect accounts against fraud.

Verizon does not pay reps anymore for alternate upgrades. She probably needed it to upgrade the actual line with the upgrade on it.

Doing an alternate upgrade earns the rep 0$. It's a touchy issue right now for reps.
