Verizon LG G3 and USB OTG

So I picked up a USB OTG cable from Amazon and plugged it into my Verizon G3 this evening. I've tried connecting two USB thumb drives and a mouse, the devices all get power but nothing is seen by the G3.

I suppose it's possible that I have a bad cable or one that just doesn't like the G3, but is there anything else I'm missing?

The G3 should do OTG, so any cable, even the 87 cent ones on eBay, should work right off the bat. I think I paid about $2 on Amazon for mine. A bad cable is a good guess (unless the USB port in the phone is damaged or doesn't have all the pins connected [all OTG does is connect pins 4 and 5 at the phone end - the rest is a straight USB cable]).
