Okay everyone, so I need a little bit of help your. For the first time in my smartphone life I am trying the texting application Verizon messaging plus. I love the fact that it sends a picture video messages so quickly! And that it also has a desktop web client as well for a syncing text messages. That's also part of the problem though because on my S8 I have the application and the notifications work fine. However, the second i install the desktop client on my Windows 10 laptop and saved up my text messages, the notifications on my Galaxy S8 stopped. Meaning I didn't know when I got a new message on my phone but my notification panel on my laptop would tell me. Which is not good. I just uninstalled the desktop client and so far the notifications on my Galaxy S8 seems to be working fine has anyone else ever experienced this before? Again I've never used this Verizon texting application before whatsoever. Thanks for any input I appreciate it!

I use Verizon Messages on my S8+, Tab S2, and Surface Pro 3. I get notifications on all three. I'm not sure why yours doesn't.

I don't know it's weird at first it worked fine I had the client on my desktop for 2 days and it was working and then I will get the notification on my Galaxy S8 but it would quickly disappear. I'm about to call Verizon data support up and ask them the same question. I was just wondering if anyone here knew first.

I have always wanted to try it .. but every-time I go away from Textra I go right back. It looks better, functions better (for my needs.. timed txts and stuff), and I enjoy it more. That said I can see the advantage of having texts through the desktop but it isn't a huge game breaker for my usage.

For me though, when I used to send picture and video messages and Textra it took forever to send that in the video always fail. And it took forever to send out the pictures. And with Messaging Plus application, it sends out the pictures and videos within seconds.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you get a phone notification if you have the web client pulled up (even if just in the background) and using it. the system assumes you don't want both devices getting notified.

That's what I didn't realize until I close on the web Klein. You can't get notifications in both places that's redundancy too. Eventually just close down the web app and my phone was working fine. I also like the fact that when I send that picture out I can edit in scribble all over it haha.

Yeah I haven't had that issue at all. I do many group messages and pics without a hiccup.

It was most of the videos I tried to send the Mass Text of a few pictures and videos and Textra failed to send most of them. I even tried to fine-tune all of the MMS settings.

I get notifications on both my SP3 AND S8+ while using the Verizon Messages+ app on my SP3. I also get those same notifications on my Galaxy Tab S2 as well.
@eric002 I should have asked this earlier. Does the app icon show any badges? You know, like a number, indicating how many new texts you've received. I ask, because I also have Samsung Messages configured, but not set as my default messaging app. When I get a notification marquee across top that looks like the Samsung Messenger app, but on my lock screen, it says Message+ and my Messages+ icon shows how many unread messages I have.

That's interesting. On my Lenovo Windows 10 laptop I have to shut down the Messaging Plus client in order for my phone to you notify correctly. As far as Dynamic badge notifications on my S8, I get the numeric value when I'm in the application and stuff but not on my desktop. I hope that helps a little bit. I still get two notification in my notification shade of course though. Yeah, Verizon messaging Plus application works beautifully! There's no question about it. The biggest thing that I love about the application has the fact that with even very low signal I can send that video messages very quickly.

What are your settings on your phone and what are they on your laptop?

My settings on my laptop, and my Galaxy S8 were they were both signed into the same Verizon account via a PIN number that authenticated me. But no I did realize it once I close the web client down on my laptop, that my Galaxy S8 application work just fine. No big deal. Thank you for the help though. I appreciate it. On an off-topic no, you don't by any chance have a dbrand skin on your phone at all do you?

Next stupid question. Are you using a third party launcher like Nova? I use Nova Launcher on my Tab S2 and I don't get badge notifications, but I do get them in the banner.

I'm using stock Touchwiz on my S8+.

Trust me when I say there's not a stupid question that could be ask hahaha yes I'm using a custom pixel set up via Nova Launcher on my essay which I absolutely love. With Dynamic badge notifications which I barely use because I have it set up that when I tap the home button I can quickly search any app on my phone. I have the package disabler app from Samsung setup on my S8 and I disabled completely TouchWiz.

You're welcome. That is weird though.

I don't have a skin on mine. I have a gel case from 3RDi Galleries for everyday use and a Otterbox Symmetry for the beach and camping.

Gotcha gotcha. I initially had a red and gold thin case from Amazon for five bucks on my S8 but I didn't realize when I purchased it that it would mess up the edge display in the infinity screen on my S8. So, I have a naked phone. Which once I can afford to get the glass replaced I won't have a cracked screen anymore haha.
