It over heats while charging browsing internet facebook battery need charging several hours several times a day. It freezes while doing normal functions the bottom keys on the keyboard don't work sometimes. What do I do?

If you are charging and using ANY phone at the same time it will "overheat" or run hot.

I had a similar issue. Turns out a rogue app inexplicably decided to activate the GPS while it was charging and got stuck. Check your battery stats and see if the GPS is in active use during charging. I'll bet it is.

Once I got rid of the app(s) (It was either Arcus Weather or Open Camera), the problem went away.

My VZW Moto X 2 is generally well behaved otherwise.

I occasionally have the same issues.. My phone will get hot with over 40% battery left, and then 3 hours later it'll be dead, after very little actual usage.

I'm going with Milky Way via
the Android Central App

I've had that issue with the Galaxy Nexus, the Moto X 13 and Moto X 14. I think it's the Qualcomm processor family that simply runs hot when doing certain things. I've had them heat up whether playing games, even just Words With Friends, browsing on Chrome or playing around in Facebook. And there have been times where unidentified apps go rogue and keep the device awake, run it hot, and burn through the battery in a snap if I don't catch it in time and reboot.

I've saved myself some of that trouble by dismissing apps from the Recent Apps view. This especially seems helpful with keeping Facebook under control.

of course its ok today. but everything you guys are saying was happening. Also with 10% battery left it shuts off as if its dead. I have also noticed it can take several several hours to charge sometime. One time it took 15 mins to go from 2% to 3%.

Unless the phone either shuts itself down or throttles severely, it's not overheating it's just getting a bit hot.

when it heats up, it slows way way down. it takes several moments for it to respond when its burning up. i cleared the multitasking windows but it still over heats almost daily
