Verizon Moto X: 4.4.2 update

I have noticed Touchless Controls is much faster.

I did a full reset/cache wipe after I updated.

So far:
- Active Notifications screen is faster to unlock.
- Touchless Control is faster to recognize speech and input commands.
- Colors on photos are more natural.
- Google Now Launcher responds to "OK Google" command
- Battery life is improved. AndroidOS use is MUCH less.

Great phone keeps getting better.

Re: moto x Verizon model 4.4.2

It is absolutely faster. I was using mine, saw the update, stopped using and started update.

Figuring it was something minor, just went back to using it after and five seconds into that I'm thinking to myself, hey this thing got a speed boost!

Today I got an update to Motorola assist from play store.

What should I notice with the 4.4.2 update?

Re: moto x Verizon model 4.4.2

System sounds only seem to play over selected devices which means that if you want to use the driving mode of Moto Assist you had better have a stereo that works. I worked around it by only using bt for making calls and hooked up and auxiliary cable for media and system sounds but that's a half measure I was hoping the update would fix. It did not. I can tell you that Alpine and Kenwood stereos as well as Uvo in KIA have the problem. The Pioneer in my other car as well as three I tried in the store don't. I've heard mixed results on Ford Sync. Subaru and BMW also seen to be problematic. So the systems I've personally tried have been newer systems so who knows. I know my Note 2 never had the problem and neither does my Tab 3 8.0 on the same systems. My understanding is that Moto uses its own BT stack so....... My wife's Droid Max has the same problem so I'll buy the Moto BT stack problem.

The newest Moto Assist update seems to have fixed the notification and voice to text problems system wide, at least on the stereos I use. If you go into the Assist app and driving there will be a link to troubleshoot Bluetooth. Pick alternate channel and things should work. It must be changing something system wide because I can get voice to text regardless of app over Bluetooth now. Nothing worked before this. Nice to see them reacting to problems we've been having. Now for a nice update to the camera app ;-)

No push? Looks like it's available for everyone on Verizon now.

Yeah... Checked it on the toilet as soon as I woke up this morning... Lol! After I did mine, my wife's pulled it same as mine.

Yes, the routing of alerts and sounds is app specific. Different cars work differently and some do not allow audio to be routed over HFP (SCO, calling channel) and some do. Some cars don't mix A2DP (Music/media) sounds over other sources (CD, FM radio, etc). So this causes differences between cars, not the BT stack, which is the AOSP BT stack in Android. The latest Assist now allows users to choose how to route Assist notifications best depending on how their car works.

It's my understanding that post kitkat Moto chose to use their own Bluetooth stack instead of the AOSP one which explains why people started having these problem on 4.4. I know that's when my problems started though if course they're fixed now with the update.

Definitely smoother and faster...even facebook which has been a "dog" app is screamin'. So far 1st day, battery is better although admittedly was busy today at work so not heavy use...but now at 11pm...16hrs...still 22% left.

Noticed that on the stock power controls widget now location settings has two settings, half (battery saving) or full (gps)

I noticed the active notification unlocking motion doesn't vibrate anymore if you have haptic feedback off. Maybe I just noticed it after the update but did the update fix that? Wasn't a big deal but glad it doesn't vibrate now when I unlock.

It was in the Active Display update recently. They honor haptic feedback is off systemwide.

The whole reason I liked the Moto X was the awesome battery life. Since the OTA Update last night I am drained in less than 10 hours with almost no usage. I am not rooted and easily made an entire day with some light data and 45-60 minutes of calls.

EPIC FAIL !!!!!

Before the update when scrolling through the app drawer the widgets would take a second or so to "populate" It was my only niggle with the phone and a small one at that. I don't notice it since the update.
