I guess I really did get lucky! I some how managed 200 for an old Droid X and it was applied to the new Turbo right then and there walked out paying 50 plus tax.

Edge is not required. I got mine today on a new 2 year contract with the $100 trade in "rebate" applied directly to the $250 price of the phone on the spot.

Ditto here. I did the same today when I picked up my Droid Turbo 64GB version. I had an old razr M and they gave me $100 for it and immediately applied it to the phone price. (Price went from 249 to 149 plus the 2 year contract of course).

So I ordered mine last night at midnight on verizonwireless.com. I paid full retail for it, so my question is, will that code still come with my phone? Or did I have to specify a trade in when I bought it? And if the code does come, am I able to use it even though I paid full retail price or is it only valid on a 2 year contract? Any help you can give is appreciated.

I think I won the contest for the oldest operating smartphone used as a trade in. or at least the most worthless phone used as a trade in at a store:
my XV6800 (Windows smart phone that I had before the Bionic was released.) at that time I was holding out for a 4G dual core phone.
I found the 6800 in my old phone bone pile and charged it up and it was able to boot up and work sufficiently. when I went to a VZW store to get the trade in credit, as long as the screen was not cracked and it booted up, it was considered a smart phone. paid $100 plus tax for my Turbo. not bad. this was a renewal of an existing 2yr contract.

Does anyone have a more worthless phone as a successful trade in?

I went into a Verizon store this past Thursday and had the easiest best experience in my time with big red. I traded in my old Razr Maxx and she applied the $100 rebate to my account immediately. So far I have been very impressed with the Turbo!!!

The in store rep said they would email and text the code automatically just by me purchasing it. I purchased it last Thursday and still no code. But I later went ahead and traded a phone in at the store and got my bill credited. Maybe that's why I didn't get an email.
