hey everyone, since we don't have our beloved phone in our possession, I started thinking as to why verizon was totally bombing this release and what's really going on, so here, dates will be little off, just going off memory here.
1: OCTOBER: google press conference showing nexus and android 4.0 (looks ready to me)
2: no verizon announcement
3: MID NOVEMBER: europe gets nexus (I'm pretty sure phone was developed with verizon in mind since we knew it was exclusive in states)
4: DECEMBER: early rumors of release date 4th, 9th, 15th, 21st
5: DECEMBER: 4th comes and goes, nothing, then every tech blog getting pretty CONCRETE info 9th it is, finally.
6: DECEMBER 5th: 4g lte outtage amongst 4g phones supposedly scares verizon from releasing nexus to double check system-bullsnot
7: DEC 7th: stores across america getting nexus stock of impending sale.
8: Dec 9th: no nexus but hey, droid 4g droid xyboards go on sale, apparantely verizon never worried about the 4g outtage.
9: DEC 9th: reports coming in of google wallet causing software compatibility issues

now is it me or was verizon dead set on releasing on the 9th as planned? And if they were, they were going to release it without any advertising to ramp it up and get the word out-fishy. Now "the verge" is implying in an article how verizon and google are at odds with each other, which is delaying the release. I think verizon don't give a damn about this phone, they wanted exclusivity to keep us from jumping ship to att or tmobile, which I would have if I knew they were gonna play this game. The nexus is just a pawn in verizons chess game, yes they will sell a lot and make money but they know we would of left to other carriers over this phone, point and simple.

Shortly after the Nexus announcement Verizon did say it will be selling the Nexus by the end of the year. We also had rumors of release dates in November for the 3, 11, 17, and 21 but those seemed to be loose rumors. Everything else seems spot on.

I think it's Obama's fault.

the software is as ready as its gonna be, every phone released always has bugs, heck look at the bionic, barely getting a major bug software fix, iphone 4S had bugs, htc thunderbolt, nexus in europe, etc etc. No matter how well they think they got it, somethings gonna pop up when millions of people activate their phones and put their phones in all kinds of scenarios that will bring to light things that need fixing.
so what verizon is doing is simply not ironing things out but making sure their apps run good and googles doesn't (google wallet)

If there is a technical issue, it has to be the CDMA/LTE connectivity issue. I have the GSM model and it runs very well. Even before the update it ran well for me. The only issue I have is, a app that force closes when I scroll too fast.

Which actually isn't really that bad at least in my opinion. I can understand a carrier wanting a phone they are going to be selling to be able to handle their companies specific apps.

That also doesn't mean those apps will come pre-installed on the phone.

I understand that verizon would make sure their 2 apps run flawless. But doing so and also removing a native "baked in" google wallet app will probably jumble some code up and require extra testing. But they gotta own up to it, the phone could have been ready to release last month, I mean even phil nicholson started a thread in july saying verizon had this phone exclusively.....JULY! Any delays to this point are verizons doing and not a cdma, 4g lte or android bugs issue. IMO

Droid 4 not for sale yet. Tab sold online Friday and in store Monday. So really Monday a few will have the tab so the 4g wont be taking a pounding anyway. If it's next Thursday I'm in a meeting all day 9-5 so ill be later to the nexus party :(
