just wondering if you are able to go on vacation to another country and use a SIM card from a carrier in the Note 2? anyone know?

my contract with the Thunderbolt is up sometime next month and I want the Note 2 but not sure if I will stay with Verizon or jump to T-Mobile

You should do a search about global capabilities. There is about 3 threads already started.

I just talked to Verizon regarding using the Note 2 in Italy and they assured me that with the last software update the Italian sim card will work for talk, text, AND DATA. With the previous software version it only worked with talk and text. I hope it is true because I am going to be in Italy for three weeks this coming June.

well.... I have the most recent update and I can confirm 100% that data does not work using non-Verizon SIM cards. (AT&T, T-Mobile, or foreign)

unless you root, of course

Voice and text have always worked since day one.
