Just received my lollipop update on my Note 3 so I went out side to try it out on my Pioneer 4100 and it kept telling me I had a incompatible USB.
I looked up the error in the owners manual and it says that it is incompatible USB device. Is the Note 3 working with Auto right now? Do you use a regular USB cable or is there a special one I need? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The Pioneer is probably looking for something like a memory stick. MTP and PTP don't look like that. Car manufacturers (and 3rd parties like Pioneer) have come up with iPhone interfaces, now they're going to have to start coming up with Android interfaces.

The reason I'm asking is there seems like its hit and miss on what phones will actually work with Android Auto on the 4100NEX so before I get all worked up I was just wondering if the Note 3 was one of the phones that does work as of right now. I was using the regular USB cable that I use to charge my Note 3 and was wanting to know if it would work for Android Auto. If the Note 3 isn't one of the phones that DOES work with Android Auto on the 4100NEX then it doesn't matter what USB cable I use.

ok, got it working. I remembered when I first powered it up I had to decide on how connect to the unit. Since I didnt have Lollipop I chose bluetooth. I just had to go back and erase all my settings and choose Android Auto.

Can you elloborate on this a little, so you erased your blue tooth connection and then connected the USB? Doesnt it have to have a blue tooth connection in order to work? Sorry im thinking of buying a note 3 to replace my verizon s4 so i can use android auto. Want to make sure it works before i do so.

I have a note 4 and I got the same issuse I brought 3 wires and it's saying incompatible usb and I got the nex 4100 so I don't know what to do

Are you guys using the included pioneer extension cable? I got rid of mine and just used the samsung usb cable the phone came with straight to the head unit. All problems went away

Yeah the extensions don't work at all. Try not to use them if you can. Worked for me.

Also every update on AA I have to uninstall then install and its been working great for months
