You are correct, Band 4 is disabled by default. If you are rooted, you can enable it with this guide.

Is there any way to force it to connect to band 4 instead of band 13 lte?

Thru ServiceMode, UE setting > Settings > Protocol > NAS > Network Control > Band Selection > LTE Preference > B4. Do this at your own risk. When band 4 is forced it is Data only, No voice. To switch back to automatic do the same thing, but choose Automatic instead of LTE Band Preference.

Is there a way to root if I already have the latest update?

Also is there a way to see what band you are connected to?

Enter ServiceMenu, Protocol State > Basic Information .. it shows on the first line.

Only way to root MJ7 currently is Kingo root. Google it

I recently bought the Note 3 on Verizon from Sam's club. Amazing phone! I am traveling to Argentina next month and am hopeful it will work once I get a local SIM. I have my S4 google edition as a backup just in case though If anyone else can update this thread as they travel I, and others will appreciate it!

Hi

I bought a Note 3 in NYC - It was "Unlock " in the store - and my EU SIM seems to work in the US
when I took it to EU and open the phone I"m geeting a meesage -"Sim isnt Verizion "

Any idea what to do ?!

There is nothing to unlock as it is factory sim unlocked. With regards to the non Verizon sim, yes, you will get that message. If you root, you may be able to get rid of the message, but regardless a compatible sim would work

The only thing that still open is that is says - non verizion sim

Sim unlock won't be lost, but obviously if you don't pay your bill, Verizon will blacklist it. And if it was a stolen phone then it would probably be in the stolen phone database which means that it cannot be activated domestically and internationally on carriers who participate in the stolen phone database.

If blacklist for non payment, then probably. If blacklisted for stolen then it depends on whether or not the carrier participates in the stolen phone database. All major us carriers do but not all international carriers do at this time.

Hi I have read all the post about the Verizon Note 3 being used on with a T-mobile sim card.I havent gotten the sim card yet but i did go to the APN settings but it wouldnt let me add anything .There was a + at the bottom of the screen but it wouldnt let me select it .Do i have to have the T-mobile sim card first?

Yes, it then will allow you to set apn. However you will only have H, not 4glte.
