Verizon Note 3 Reception Quality

Does anyone have any signal strength comparisons on the Verizon Version of the Note 3? The reception is going to be different on phones built for each provider, AT&T, T Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, etc. I am on Verizon and have long awaited the arival of the Note 3, but I live in a rural area where I have to have a phone with good Verizon 4G reception. I originally purchased the Galaxy Nexus when it came out and loved it until I had to return it due to weak reception. My Rezound got much better reception and has served me well, but I really want to get this phone if the reception is good. As has been mentioned, bars mean little and the actual signal numbers or a comparison to a phone known for good reception like the Note 2 is a good comparison. Thanks guys, oh, and I'm very jealous of those of you who already have the Note 3.

I got the 3 on Verizon Thursday. The signal is TERRIBLE! I took it back on Friday, and they put my SIM card in another new 3 and that one was just as bad! The Verizon folks at my store were shocked. I'm going back on Sunday to get something else.

Less than 80 db and 4 to 5 bars - I am fortunately having no radio issues at all - in fact here in Denver Verizon grid so strong there are only two spots between my home and office ( a 15 mile drive ) where I used to lose calls almost all the time......and so far the Note 3 does not drop the call in these two spots 😎

They are really good at looking shocked and saying "there are no reported issues with (insert any common complaint here). " I think the secret is none of the employees last long enough to become familiar with known issues. I wouldn't bother lying for a buck three eighty so i see no reason to assume their employees would either.

No rf problem, but wifi not as strong

I noticed at Best Buy the note 3 couldn't hold their own wifi signal. The LG G2 did fine on it.

It is better than my Droid RAZR MAXX. There is an area Where I usually drive that causes me to go down to 3G But it only goes down to 1-2 bars on the Note 3

Picked up my N3 this afternoon; really looking forward to it. Love all the features, and the s-pen. Coming from a Droid X2, so the N3 is a major step up; in everything except the phone performance.

The N3 is consistently ~8dB lower than the X2 (that's around only 15% of the signal level of the X2; that's significant). This is enough to make calls noisy in my house. They either get dropped or are not makeable in the basement. While listening to Pandora, it's dropped the data stream, requiring me to reboot the program ; something that never happened on the X2. Data downloads look more sluggish than on the X2's 3G. The few times that the N3 is on LTE, it still doesn't seem fast. I had the Samsung S4 awhile back, and when it was on LTE data downloads were amazingly faster than the X2. I'm sure if I was in a strong signal area Lte would be up to its normal speeds, but it's useless where I live.

I'd still recommend the N3 to someone living in a strong-signal area. But if you need to use the phone in weak coverage areas, get something else. It's possible the unit I have has a defect causing the poor phone performance. But, from comments on this, and other, sites, it looks like samsung spent their money on the tablet side and neglected the phone side. My N3 is going back tomorrow, now I've got to figure out what to replace the X2 with.....

I've been using mine in rural Iowa without issue. Then again I'm not staring at the signal strength all day, it's just working. Signal strength will fluctuate, it's not hooked to a wire.

Give it a day or try a different SIM card .I got my N3 on friday and it would drop to 3G and back to 4G so I put the Sim from my S4 in it and it has been fine since I gave the S4 to my girlfriend and we drove around comparing the signals and both were almost Identical I never had trouble with the reception on the S4 so maybe its just a bad SIM worth a shot .

I am shocked (but not chagrined) to report my 900v data reception is better (yes better) than my motorcycle RAZR max hd. I get Internet reception at the deli counter at Demoulas market. I never got any reception there on either of my droid nor my tbolt. it was 3G and not very fast but it worked fine. I haven't found a single spot that data is worse in my N3 and it is often better. I've ranked out Sammy fans for years due to poor radios. not in this beast.

Mine is definitely worse than my old Bionic. We have been going to the same mall for over 10 years and every phone I have had has always been able to get signal enough to at least receive calls and do mild Web browsing. Yesterday my N3 had the circle with the slash through it the whole time with no data or cell service. I had to stand right in the middle of the mall Isle to keep one bar. My wife's 6 year old envy 3 had service the whole time even in store on Verizon also. I work at the hospital and take emergency calls so this is going to be tough for me.

Absolutely horrible reception. It wasn't great to start - but after dropping it twice - I can barely use it on phone network. Wifi is no prob.
Otherwise I LOVE LOVE the phone.

Those were the good old days. Verizon has done something to the network and now my reception sucks. Where I used to have 2 bars I now have no data at all. This new xlte nonsense has ruined the vzw network imo

Of course it all depends on where you are. Also voice and data are not the same.
Voice can be touchy at the same location where data is okay.
I gave up unlimited data to get. Get the Note 3. I pay for 6 gb of data a month.
What bothers me is from the exact same location my data connection varies from 1g to 4g over the course of a day. More and more it is at 3g. What's up? Shouldn't I always have A 4G Signal if one is fairly near by?

Look I'm talking from 3G to zero data, none. Nothing to do with phone service. I live in eastern Massachusetts and I've never even seen the no data icon before when I'm outdoors.

I was having major reception issues with my Note 3 that I got on release day. Verizon replaced mine under warranty and the new one is much better now. The old one was infuriating.
