I got it today. But it's dated 12-01-2017. So, it was the December update, not January.

That seems odd. The 12-01-2017 update came at the end of December. This one was 01-01-2018 for me.

Yes but the stupid Settings->Help still points to a broken link. So Verizon doesn't test very well! See pictures and attached - so you guys have that help file if you like. You're welcome!

Yes, it still works on my AT&T - the only thing that usually screws that up is if you let the App itself get updated by Playstore Sandra! That's why I shut off auto update in Playstore... I don't worry about Security Patches.

I do keep all the updates off, but went nuts a couple of months ago because S Note magically updated to the newer crap version. Took me a while, but figured out that I forgot to turn updates off in Secure Folder. Not sure why the update got both versions, I always thought they were two separate installs.

Bottom line is now I'm just incredibly paranoid!

Well the Pixel folks are on Oreo.

So what the Samsung experience brings way better software features than Oreo ever could. Android versions are always playing catch up to Samsung's UI.

Well that is the key word: if . Either way it is good that Samsung / the carriers are keeping up on security updates. That is good for everyone.
