Verizon note 8 will not have annual upgrade, can anyone confirm this?

My wife hasn't said anything either, I'm just trying to keep it that way. . Like you said, phones are getting more expensive, I used to upgrade a lot more, but like you, I'm changing how I do it. Fortunately for me I'm happy with the Samsung line and once a year is good enough for me. I did sneak 2 in this year with the s8+, don't know if the wife caught me on that one it not. Lol
You are lucky if you can get away with that. My girlfriend notices everything.

That's not an accurate statement or you are misunderstanding what Verizon reps are saying. With Apple and Samsung devices Verizon offers the customer the options to pay off half the device and trade it in in one year. I have a recorded conversation with a rep telling me I can trade the Note 8 in after $480 is paid off. It seems that Verizon reps are uninformed or just doing shady business.
I have a question? What promo are you referring to? It is my understanding that whenever you left the 2 year contract cycle and switched over to a device payment plan, which is what I've had for about 2 years... that as long as you have 50% of your current device paid off and you turn said device back in that you could upgrade. Furthermore, if you were not at 50% paid you could pay the difference, which is what I did Saturday, and of course turn in the other device and upgrade. Let me also note that I've done this multiple times in the past two years with different devices. (Apple, Samsung, and LG)

If you trade in certain devices they up the trade in credit to $480. But, it's spread out as a $20 credit to your device payment over 24 months.

Not all. They made me pay off in full the wretched Pixel XL before they let me upgrade, though they did give me the 480 on the trade in for it, which essentially is what I owed. But if I don't think about the math too closely, I am getting the Note for half a month of what it would have been without that so, ok.

I understand what VZ is saying! VZ throws out the one half promo offer for say... my Note 5. That's $480.00 paid out $20.00 per month, 24 months. So after two years, my cost will be $480.00 For the Note 8. I'll keep it for two years. For you... or another phone jumper, if you took the promo offer, If after one year, you decide you don't want the Note 8 any longer, you owe the balance of $480.00 to VZ to pay off the balance. That's what most understand the math to be. You have paid $240.00, VZ matches that with $240.00... and... here's the kicker... you now pay off the balance of $480.00. Your cost for one year's use of Note 8 is now... $240.00 PLUS $480.00 For a total cost of...$720.00. THIS IS YOUR COST FOR ONE YEAR'S USE OF THE NOTE 8. That's an expensive cost for only one year. Your money, your decision.
That's not what we're talking about though. We're talking about the annual upgrade plan, not the promos that are offered for half off a device. For instance, with my S8+, as soon as half of the balance of the phone is paid, I can send it back to them and upgrade to a new phone. There's no credits or promos or anything.

Yea, that's what the question was. It does not appear that you can pay off half the note and upgrade. Verizon told me the same thing with my Pixel XL. The only difference is they advertise the 50% deal on all iphone and samsung devices (except when they want to make exceptions apparently)
