I took T-Mobile up on their offer to pay off my Pixel XL ($550!) in exchange for switching away from Big Red.... for as long as it took for the gift card to be issued :) On Fi now and as happy as can be.

Out of the blue Verizon sent an offer for a $300 gift card if I switch back, which is funny considering I gave them 3 good chances to, if not match some of the terms TMobile offered, then at least do better than whatever plan is posted on the website, and they declined to even consider giving me a better deal.

I'm not going to take them up on it, since they require you to maintain 6 months of service (much smarter than T-Mo was in that respect!), and my new bills are low enough to just about even it out.

Funny how companies don't listen until you actually walk. Then, they suddenly find ways to bend over backwards to get you back. It's almost like if they had this epiphany BEFORE you left, they might keep customers.

Yep it's called "Win Back" - a program they've been running for awhile.

Just remember since you've taken advantage of a swap promotion with T-Mobile... If you ever leave T-Mobile and in the future try another swap promotion you won't be eligible. Just FYI.

Verizon offered me 100 gift card to bring my one line back. also said they would waive any activation fees, and if I got a phone they would waive any upgrade fees.

I'm pretty happy with T-Mobile so they would have to offer more to get me to switch

Sounds like DirectTV. We left them after several years. Think the price was double the starting price. They asked what it would take to keep us, I said reset the price to our starting price. Over the next three months after we left them they kept sending offers. The final offer was what I requested, just 3 months too late.

Direct TV did the same thing with me. I asked for the new customer promo to sign a new 2 year contract, nothing more, nothing less. I told them I'm doing the same thing any new customer would be doing and should get the same promo. They refused, I turned them off and went elsewhere. A month later, if that, that were trying to get me back with the exact same thing I was asking for before leaving plus a $300 gift card. They were willing to give be more to come back then I wanted to just stay.
