Can you tell me what your work around is? I use custom notifications alot and I am so bummed it's gone!! If I can't find a work around, how do I go back to Nougat! Thanks

Well, the most suggested one is using a different texting app which I won't do. I have an app called Prof Reminder and have used it for many years (the paid version). I'll just set it up to send my preferred notification tones as reminder tones for certain contacts (only available in the paid version) and that should solve the issue.

There is 2 ways I've done it so far. 1. The gifs thru our keyboard: when I send a gif to someone I can save that gif to my gallery by hard pressing gif and selecting save attachment. 2. You can open browser(I used Chrome) and search whatever gif you want and long press the gif and you should get a box with option to download image. And it should go to your gallery. Then go to your gallery, select gif and set it to AOD as you would any other pics. Hope this works for you.

You're so welcome Glad it worked for ya. That's cute. I got a couple cute kitty ones. Lol. Too bad the gifs don't continuously play on AOD. But all you got to do is tap it a couple of times and it will play again. Or wake phone up and shut screen off again. Guess it's to save on battery.

None of the gear s3 apps will update it installed and transfers to gear then the same updates pop back up and you keep installing and sending to gear but they for some reason never clear from the updater so it just keeps installing and transferring like it doesn't see it was already updated noticed a lot of problems since oreo update was installed on verizon note 8 phone is always 100 times slower

It's on the Sprint version, more to choose from.

Unless I'm doing it wrong, on Verizon we just got more clocks which is also the same exact choices now for Lock and AOD clock design. No more designs behind the clock.

Have had a few glitches with the Oreo update, did clear partition cache before and after. Had to remove Samsung account... notifications appearing a lot. Gone now. Some of the email and message notifications were changed/altered... cleaned them up. MAIN PROBLEM... battery life with Nougat was 6-7 hours SOT. Now with Oreo... five Hours SOT. That's a huge decrease! No new apps, basically same settings. Will monitor. Frankly, I hope Oreo is NOT a battery hog!

Oh the battery is fun. One day I can use it like it's my first toy. The next my battery is dead is 6hrs without doing anything. It's this glitched oreo. We got 8.0 when 8.1 has already been out. That's why we have bugs like this.

I hate to be an advocate because I know it can be a PITA, but a hard reset cured most (all?) of the glitchy type issues for me. In general, my battery life seems to have improved. A few things I noted post-upgrade and what led me to hard reset:

1. poor battery life
2. prolonged delays on screen transitions
3. crashes, especially with the stock apps
4. slow charging, even using rapid chargers and even when phone indicated it was rapid charging

These issues all appear to be resolved 5 days post-hard reset. Note: I did not do a restore, I did a fresh install.

YMMV.

I discovered that chrome browser was the culprit, drawing 4% per hour. After disabling it, predicted battery life went from 10hrs to 24hrs.

anyone update using Nova Launcher?

My phone seems fine since the update & I am still running Nova Launcher. Bonus I now have the device maintenance available on my phone. I got my phone on release day and that feature was absent from my settings. Second bonus I still have my cat mini game (easter egg) from Nougat!
