I have a question for any Verizon Pixel 2 / 2 XL users. How quickly do you get software updates after Google publishes the new software versions?

I am considering switching from AT&T to Verizon and going with the Pixel 2 XL for me and the Pixel 2 for my wife. Looking forward to faster software upgrades and less bloatware then what we had on our Samsung phones.

Thanks

Jack

It generally rolls out over the course of a couple of weeks (everyone doesn't get it the same day)....faster if you sign up for the Beta track. But most any other phone that's even eligible for the update won't get it until weeks or months after the Pixels.

They release the same time. At the moment they go in batches so sometimes you get it instantly and other times maybe later in the week.

Google will eventually fix the Google Play Services bug so when the update gets released you will be able to tap "Check for Updates" and it will deliver the update right away.

There won't be bloatware on the pixel 2 on AT&T. That isn't even an issue

Yes I know there want be bloatware if I went with the Pixel 2 on AT&T. I was referring to the bloatware on Samsung phone. I am switching over to Verizon for better coverage at my house and for when I am visiting family since Verizon has the better coverage in both places.

Ditto - I have the Pixel 2 on Verizon and got the 8.1 upgrade the day it was released. Things appear to be consistent with updates related to the unlocked and Verizon version. (Verizon phone with Verizon SIM)

Also, the Verizon version only comes with 3 pre-installed apps, which you can delete. It's not an issue.

Putting a Verizon SIM in an unlocked Pixel 2 gets you those same delete-able apps. Lame. But they are easily removed.

Sometimes. It doesn't always install them. I got my phone from Verizon and put my SIM in and it never pre-loaded those apps. It was the same story w/ the Pixel 1 crowd as well. Some got it right away whereas others never saw them.

As you stated though ... They are fully removable so nowhere near as bad as others.

Hmm, you learn something new everyday. I was 5 for 5 with this...well, using the same Verizon SIM and 2 different Pixel 2s, I always had the Verizon apps install during setup of these phones fresh out of the box or after a FDR.

Maybe this is tied to specific SIMs? Who knows...not worth investigating.

Same here...no Verizon apps on a fresh install.

I'm wondering this too, but I'll be buying my Pixel 2 XL at Verizon and using it on T-Mobile. Does anyone know if I'll get the software updates at the same time as those with a Verizon SIM?
