Verizon prepaid "unknown device" - can't add bridge data

Hi All,

I'm on VZW prepaid with a Moto X Pure (2015) [XPE]. I was a previous postpaid customer and switch to prepaid when contract was up in September. I was initially using a Droid Maxx then switch to the XPE. Had no issues swapping the active SIM to the XPE. Apparently, I had bought bridge data with my Maxx and it finally got used up.

I've been trying to add bridge data to my account today, but the system keep erroring out on me. I've spoken to a few reps already and it seems that their system is not allowing me to add the data because I'm using an unknown device. Now certainly there's been activation issues with the XPE, but if I'm able to use their network, I should be able to add data whenever I want.

I was curious if anyone else has had an unknown device problem when trying to manage their account? Were you able to get it resolved?

Thanks,
DK

I was able to find some conversation on this on the Motorola forums.

Just for everyone's information, I had issues because it considers the Moto X 2015 an unapproved device. When you have an unapproved device it won't let you manage your account, which was the issue I was having.

The VZW techs were trying to plug my IMEI in, but it wasn't working. Apparently, prepaid will only take IPhones and Nexus devices as unlocked. I was able to switch back to my old Maxx and everything worked.

I've since switch to AT&T prepaid.
