Verizon rolling out UDP in June??

Well, if true that would be awesome! Especially if it drives others like T-Mo to do the same :) At a reasonable price, of course.

Since it is a link to another thread -- I will have to say this is definitely a no go.

I feel they will not do this and they are so greedy. We shall see let's get rid of overages and everyone switch to a company that has no overages T Mobile or cricket

Not everyone can (or wants to) switch though as most do not have overage issues.

I have never had an overage either but we are currently paying for two lines with one gigabyte and before taxes that is $110 per month after taxes near $120 per month which for the amount of data that we are getting is completely and utterly ridiculous. That is why I want to switch to cricket as soon as these contracts are up because I am tired of the foolishness. On cricket for $70 both lines can have unlimited minutes unlimited text and 2.5 gigs of high speed data and the total is $70 including tax and fees.

You are comparing your current plan which includes the phones with the cricket plans which don't include phones. For 2 lines on Verizon more everything at 6gb of shared data you would pay $100+taxes+cost of phones, vs. the $70+cost of phones for 2.5gb each (not shared) on cricket. Which one is better is up to the individual user, but at least make sure you are comparing things correctly.

As I have pointed out multiple times before, your Verizon plan includes subsidized phones, so the pricing is higher. Once you are off contract, your price will go down substantially. You need to compare off contract with off contract.

And yes tmobile and cricket and others will generally be cheaper... This hasn't changed in years. People are with Verizon for the network, not the pricing. If pricing was the primary drive for most people then Verizon would have very few customers.

This is very true.

I completely understand what you're saying and you're correct. I understand what you're saying because right now we are paying $110 before taxes which will go down $30 at the end of the contract but cricket is still cheaper for a lot more data we would get 2.5 gigs of high-speed data apiece but it is unlimited and cricket still uses the AT&T network. I think AT&T and Verizon reception are very close to being the same. We will see when I travel to the mountains this weekend. My only concern about switching is how compatible my moms iPhone 5c will be in if we will have to fool with APN settings in such things. But I right now will probably switch to cook it when I am ready to get a new phone as my Samsung galaxy S3 only gets edge and that's not good enough. I need 4G.

That never happened for me, monthly cost never went down but that was a number of years ago.

If it doesn't go down automatically then you can call in to get the discount

Have to look into that. It'd be hysterical if this means that I can subsidize new phones and maybe at worst only pay a bit more than I do now.

Years ago I don't think they did that -- but now a days you can get the "Edge" discount by either being on edge .. or having a phone paid off (or contract finished). If not you can call and ask about it like dpham said and they should give it to you.

Verizon started giving off contract discount starting last year I believe

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday that said his company is possibly going to issue them all iPhones (shudder) on Verizon for work use, but that it'd have unlimited data. So who knows what may come for the average consumer.
