Depends on the Dev keeping up to date & how badly Verizon wants to block free WiFi (which you pay for so its not really free & you should be able to use it any way you like as long as its not abuse).
I have a motorola rzr m that verizon blocked and now I have to pay 30 a month for teathering with foxfi. I am looking to buy a new phone to bypass this fee. I was thinking of the note or the s5 or s4. Is your s5 unlocked? does it have to be unlocked to do this?
I'm on Verizon (contract) and use Foxfi from time to time. Works just fine. Glad to hear it works with Lollipop but that won't affect the three Galaxy S5s I'm in charge of. I've made sure none of them will update till I give them permission.
First post...found my way here when I ran out of hair to pull. Mine was working about 3-4 hours ago. Now it just times out "checking subscription status"...
Uggg. Seems to be rolling out in sections . The recent update did mention in the ToS something to the effect of a number of quick-fix "security updates" because of some exploit that may or may not have ever existed. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was just an easy way of finding and blocking us.
Sg5/verizon/unlimited data
Edit: is anyone here running an older version with foxfi/pdanet still working? Until now, I haven't had the motivation to root the phone as its unrooted features suite me fine, but if the kit Kat still works with foxfi...I have my work cut out for me tonight. Any confirmation would be appreciated.
