Verizon s5 update today

Just what is being done during this process?

Also noticed the Verizon boot screen was orange, not red.

How long did the install take? I've been reading that its a big update, along the lines of an 850mb download

Apss, both system and user, are converted to Android RunTime, (ART), for better performance and battery. See #1.0 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide

I think it downloaded overnight. Install was normal speed. As always the optimizing took the longest. Version is now G900VVRU2BOE1

If I'm not mistaken, this adds more Verizon apps and updates the Samsung store. Basically it fixes nothing just adds more crapware.

And, most importantly why I opted out of the update, it will prevent any future attempts to root this phone.

Worked fine for me about 15 min but the Samsung app store was not downloaded to my phone.
