Does anyone know if trading an S3 is a valid trade in for this promotion. I can't get hold of any VZ chat folks to verify. Nothing on the site lists the trade ins available for this promotion.

No it isn't. For a galaxy it has to be S5 and up. Even with an S5 trade-in it's about 200. New s6's and up will get you the edge for only 100.
