If I take the SIM card out of my RAZR Maxx and put it into another Verizon phone will it work?

Yes. As long as it's the same size. I think most of the new phones have the micro-sim.

Rezound does not have micro-SIM ...but you can always buy an adapter

Isn't the Sim Card only for 4G devices? I have a feeling that Verizon will still not be fully swappable among phones until LTE becomes the lowest speed. CDMA still runs on all these phones and thus need to be activated via phone or website.

You can fully swap between any Verizon phone that takes a SIM card (4G) just by removing the SIM.

Keep in mind that some Verizon LTE devices use a micro SIM while others use a mini SIM. The cards are different sizes but are otherwise compatible. There are adapters that allow you to use the smaller micro SIM in a phone that accepts a micro SIM. You can also cut a mini SIM down to the smaller micro SIM size.
