Okay. I got my GN through the website. Been loving it. It's been everything I have been wanting.

Now it is time to get my accessories.
So I go to the Verizon store (corporate store) in my local mall.

I'm looking for a case and extra battery/charger unit. I check every display and shelf. Nada. No one iota of anything Galaxy Nexus. In fact, as I started looking around, not one sign about the phone and not even a demo unit .

When I ask someone about what I'm looking for, the rep said he has them in back and that they are not allowed to have them out.

WHAT??? Made no sense. In the end, i was able to buy what i wanted. But why the big secret? Any one else experience this?

yes, same at my store. The in store displays are filled with iPhone accessories and bluetooth devices. All the GNex stuff is in the back.

I went and ordered a commuter series from otterbox as my local store had nothing as well, it came with a semi decent screen protector too. Their 2 day shipping was fairly priced at around 7 bucks.

Does the commuter fit with the extended battery?

Most Galaxy Nexus accessories are on display at my store.
I'm almost positive it depends on the size of the store and how much they can display. (My corporate store is pretty large)

CNN(or was is MSNBC) did a survey a few months ago. They found that nearly 70% of people
bought iPhones because iPhones have a MUCH LARGER SELECTION OF COOL ACCESSORIES.
(and not because the iPhone is a better phone than Android smartphones) :)

I got the phone when it was released, but they didn't have anything out for the phone. I had to get the manager to bring out a phone to try it out. After a few other people came in asking about it they put a phone on display. Any nexus specific accessories were stored in the back. Just seems like poor marketing at the fault of individual corporate stores since others in my area have their displays up. Iphone and motorola dominates the advertising and displays in the corporate stores around me.

And because the iPhone is idiot-proof. That is why I bought it for my mother.

perhaps you should rephrase that in case your mother is reading that.... :)

Older people actually don't like the current iPhones because they hate
the tiny screens.... (what my 92-year-old grandpa said)

My mother is confused by the cable remote control. She ain't reading here.

My mom likes Siri, although when I call it Siri she gets confused. So instead I just say hold the button down. That she understands. She holds the button down and says "Call CarryMe" and Siri calls me for her. Voila! She can use a smart phone.

My store(premium retailer) has basic silicone cases out, but has yet to receieve otterbox/higher end cases & screen protectors. Also none of our reps are carrying the GN as a personal device yet. Have to wait until the new year for ours.
