My friend wants to sell his tab s2 to me. It's Verizon and I'm at&t. It's not owed on. I'm wondering if it will work on at&t and also support LTE on at&t. I would just try it but he is a good couple hours from here. Thanks.

Verizon and AT&T are not compatible networks. Also the tablet would have to be unlocked for it to work in any case. It wouldn't work, sorry.

On LTE it should be compatible. But it would have to be sim unlocked probably

Verizon is CDMA. AT&T is GSM. Completely different networks. Not compatible.

I thought all Verizon devices were SIM unlocked? I'd think since their unlocked phones mostly work on GSM networks, the Tab S2 would as well. Straight CDMA isn't really a thing anymore...modern Verizon hardware uses a SIM for data, CDMA architecture for voice.

Verizon's devices are SIM unlocked at least as far as GSM is concerned. That's not the issue. The device will work for GSM, but probably not LTE. Not because of the SIM, but because AT&T's and Verizon's LTE networks work on separate bands; at least in most places. There some places in the US where Verizon devices will connect to AT&T's LTE and vice-versa, but those are few and far between.

A Verizon device will work on AT&T's GSM (3G) network, but an AT&T device won't work Verizon's CDMA (3G) network. HSPA+ is technically a 4G connection, but it isn't LTE.

There are several known instances where people have successfully connected a Verizon device to AT&T via GSM/HSPA+. The issues they had though were problems with MMS.

So in a nutshell it SHOULD work. Before you buy it, put an activated AT&T SIM in it. It should connect GSM and HSPA+.

Worst case scenario is that it doesn't work, but you still have a really good WiFi tablet.
