Verizon to release Major Software Update

I don't want to jinx it but I am not sure if anyone else has noticed that today is a better day. The phone is more responsive, better signal (stong 4G, four bars in the office, where I was getting 1 or none yesterday....and signal strength is -96dBm, 44 asu...), and feels like it is getting back normal...I didn't do anything to the device, except request a replacement device.....So I wonder if anyone else is seeing this improvement...

I was thinking the same thing. My phone transitions between 4G and wifi much better. My signal seems better although only slightly. My text messages fail less frequently.

My battery drain is still obviously faster.

Oh. So I called Verizon today to get the results of my Network Trouble Ticket. The response was that they are aware of the problem and are working with Samsung on a resolution. He told me today that the update was pulled because he too has the GS3 and never updated his. He tried to check for the update on his while we were talking and both of us got the same error message on our phones.

It may not be quick but I'm waiting for the fix. Just knowing that they are working on it makes me feel better.

I hate to quote him to much, but he said that the Samsung team confirmed that 7% of the phones had troubles after the update.

That sounds about right because my friends who got the update didn't have the same problems as me.

Crossing my fingers and hoping it comes before the end of the summer.

I had my 2012 Ford Edge since july of 2012 and had my Samsung Galaxy S3 since that time. My bluetooth worked just fine up until an update that Verizon pushed on 5-29-13 and since that time, my phone pairs with SYNC but my bluetooth audio will no longer connect? I cannot find an answer on how to fix this? Is there an app or is there anyone else who is having the same issue? I used to use this feature so much that without it I am lost. I need help please!

Try pulling the fuse that controls sync (on the car/CUV) and put it back in after 5 minutes. That will do a master reset on the Sync Module. I had to do that in my truck (2012 F150) after that update. You'll have to repair the phone, but it'll work.

There is no way that only 7 % are affected. That is not even close as to how many people are experiencing problems!

Companies always try to mitigate these things because admittance that they messed up is apparently such a horrible thing nowadays

I think some are doing as humans do. Adjusting to the new firmware condition and rationalizing it is better ;) The update was so bad, they did a recall on the update. Even Verizon and their near secretive and aloof ways could not spin this stinker.

This update stunk so bad I even went to the effort to go back to the previous firmware. It is better and sans the new revenue bloat bait, which was the reason for the update in the first place.

Seems logical to expedite a solution, simply authorize a roll back to the previous firmware, since they already know it works well. Nope, they want all the bloat to stay, so customers have to put up with the current update for another month or more.

Verizon likes Nickleback and they dedicate the song, Figured You Out, to their customers. I need a Pepsi!

My husband and i have GS3 with Verizon and neither phone shows there is an update available and has not at all for months. After reading the posts here I am glad that they didn't alert us to an update that is/was available on May 29, 2013. I would have liked some of the features though.

I seem to have eliminated the battery drain issue by leaving my WiFi turned off unless I need to use it. I was at 50% after just a few hours, after turning off the WiFi I would go all day and still be at 75%. I know this isn't an ideal answer but until this is resolved it helps. My phone doesn't drain the battery using 3g or 4g and I haven't had any connection problems.

This might sound nuts, but I thought I would get it out and see what other people think. So normally I live in a big town and my sister who has the same phone as I do lives in a small town. The 4G in the big town is decent but the 4G and the small town is fantastic. My sister who has the update has told me that she hasn't had any problems at all on her phone. However, tonight we switched. She went to the big town and I went to the small town. For some reason my phone is working just fine while hers tonight is having the same problems I've been experiencing all along.

I don't know why it would matter but I thought I would get this out and see what other people think. So would the network matter?

You are going to get charged $2.99 extra for that. Go in to ur settings and look into ur apps running. Disable the caller id app. It constantly runs and you get charged for it. The update kills text messages and signal. I want firmwear that was before the update back..

Maybe I missed it in the 7 pages, but I never received an update. My build number ends in MB1.

There's an update outbrhere now. My downgraded to MB1 phone and my wife's phone on MB3 both picked it up. I deferred on both until I hear more a out it.

My wife's S3 took the MF1 update. Multi-Window, new gallery, are a couple of new things. Below are 4g speed tests done side by side with my stock rooted S3 with MB1.

Cute...now it shows both my 4G and WiFi connected at the same time. I wonder if this is going to zap me on my data use. I had to shut OFF mobile data, and when I reenabled it, it came back on for just a second, then dropped off. It had been running the entire time after the first boot with the little upstream and downstream arrows lighting up on both wifi and 4G. Maybe a fluke?

Not sure if this has been answered already for you, but that happened to me on last update. What's happening is there is a new caller ID app that it loads that uses 4G all the time. If you search for how to disable that (I did it, but don't remember how I did it), that will fix your dual connections happening.

MB1 doesn't seem to have fixed the battery issue. I still have to plug in the external battery in the evening.
