I have a verizon upgrade in a few days and have been trying to decide what to do. Of verizon's current lineup I am interested in the galaxy nexus and razr maxx. Should I take my pick of these two, or wait for the next big thing? I love that the nexus has ics and is a nexus phone, but the reported poor battery life is concerning and I am unsure about the lack of an sd card. The razr makes me wish it had ics and I'm not sure about the lack of removable battery. I will be rooting and romming whichever phone I get so a good dev community is a plus. Any other information I should know?

Honestly - I would play with both in the store before making a decision.

Both are rootable, but with the Nexus Unlockable boot loader I would imagine it will have more development support.

I'm in a similar situation to Red261, and was about to start my own thread when I found this one -- I'm not in a rush to get a new phone, since I'm still fairly happy with my Droid X, but Verizon says I'm upgrade eligible, a few months earlier than I had expected, so I'm looking...

The Galaxy Nexus seems really good, and since I have rooted and ROMmed my Droid X, I kind of like the idea of a phone on which that should be even easier. But I've read postings complaining about the GN's cellular radio and low speaker volume, so I'm feeling cautious.

I haven't been keeping up with the latest Android news, so I don't know what new phones are expected on Verizon over the next few months. Yes, I will search on my own, but I would appreciate the insight of AndroidCentral members.

Update: after my own research and my nephew's advice I went with the Galaxy Nexus.

I'm in the same boat.. I think I'm going iphone 4s.

Was excited for the nexus, that seems to be a disappointment.. maybe the razor maxx.

I'm in a similar situation. I can upgrade now. I have a DroidX rooted, although the battery barely lasts a few hours these days (I think the battery is failing and it's not a phone issue).

I get corporate pricing through work. I can get the Razr Maxx for $250 or the Rezound for $170 (a little cheaper than the normal 2 year upgrade price). I guess the question is should I upgrade now and get the max or wait for the Fighter? If it's really 2 weeks until the fighter comes out I'd rather wait and probably pay 250-300 for the best device out there. However, If it's a few months I would rather just pay up now for the Maxx.

Is there any update with credible info on the fighter release date?
