Verizon voicemail messages stop short

Just discovered an issue where once I select the voice mail message it starts playing as soon as I put the phone to my ear the screen flashes on and the voicemail stops playing - it'll play if I use speaker but not if I listen to it via the ear piece - it stops after a few seconds. Maybe proximity sensor issue?

I had the exact same thing happen with my S6 Edge. I never could find a solution so I just lived with it that way for a long time. Eventually, I had some other phone issues that forced a full reset of the phone. Whatever the problem was, the full reset of the phone fixed that too, and it worked fine the rest of the time I owned the phone. Not much help, I know, but if you aren't fully settled in on your S8, perhaps the full reset might be worth it, if you don't find another solution.

So far, its been working fine on my S8.

Ugh I hate having to do that but thanks!

I'm having the same issue here and have been for a week or so (basically since my voice to text voicemail trial ended...)

I have the S8 (on Verizon) and have the same issue. Used to have an S6 Edge and never had this issue. When I use speakerphone there is no problem, but using speakerphone all the time is not an option. Have seen it on other forums (S5, S6 Edge, and other models) and it always seems to be on Verizon phones. Makes me think it's their issue and that it's been around awhile. On XDA they suggest lengthening the screen timeout but it didn't work for me or the guy who tried it in the original thread.

Also - saw a post where they suggested deleting cache from VM app - did so and no difference.

Currently have a ticket with Verizon it was interesting the representative was able to recreate the problem on his brand new S8 plus using his finger simulating it to his head he believes it's a Verizon issue with the proximity sensor

Don't waste your time. Doing a factory reset or wiping cache, will solve problem temporarily. But as soon as the voicemail is closed and reopened, the problem is back. The Verizon forum is full of users with the same issue.

Have the same problem, so if factory reset won't work what's our options? Call samsung and hope for a replacement?

Same issue here, using a Verizon s7. My only workaround is to use my earbuds to listen to the voicemail.
