Verizon will end video Throttling...for a price.

4K on LTE would be slower than heck and stop every few minutes. I'm satisfied with 1080p but NOT 720p. Fortunately they haven't gone after grandfathered og unlimited data plans yet.

Nah. Was working well before. 4k HDR was streaming without pause. I have lte+ here. I'm getting 36mgb down

I can see features like VOLTE maybe not working? Or wifi calling? But to not let you have full speed/resolution streaming it doesn't make sense? Especially, for the fact you will be paying for it. I hope you find a resolution to this. Btw, why are you waiting? I would be on the phone every day till I got an answer.

My thoughts exactly! This was something I had that they took away. How can they say I can't get it? I'm so ticked off right now at VZW. I have reached out to then via Twitter because that is where most people are having luck getting this feature with my plan. The phone reps are clueless.

So after trying a second time via chat, still a no go. At first they said it could not be added to my plan so I have them the feature code (1132) and asked them to look again because others have added it. Then they said that they could not add it because I'm on an unlocked phone. Same as last rep.

They did however offer to renew my contract under the same pricing I have now (the rate hike hasn't hit me yet). It's written in my plan details that I have to remember to call them a couple of months before my current contract expires to renew for an additional two years.

Well I guess you just have to get a Verizon phone then?

Ya if I am going to be able to stream at full quality.
I just did a test with the help of my nephew with my phone's Mobile Hotspot(T-Mobile) connected to a Roku tv 42" with Netflix. What I did was I started a movie which started out at 1080p (phone about 12 feet away) . Then my nephew slowly walked away from the TV with my phone so that the signal would drop.It wasn't until the stream was below 4MBs that it dropped to 720p. To my surprise there was a hardly any difference in picture quality. Now...if you stood about 2-4 feet away maybe you could see a slightly little less detail(hair of characters) ? However, that's because I was really looking for it. Beyond that I really couldn't tell the difference? Then he moved my phone even further away to where the stream went below 1MBs. Then the resolution went to 480p. And boy right there was a huge difference in picture quality. So digdug unless you sit right up to your TV and look at every single hair on a character? You probably wouldn't notice it?Imo, 720p is plenty good.I wouldn't pay 10 dollars a month unless you are getting or currently using a 4K TV. 🤙

That's 42in though. My TVs are 55 and 65 in. You can tell the difference if the screen is bigger. I'm not at the point where I would pay 10 extra for it though.

I have a Samsung js8500 4k TV. I guess what really gets me is that we just moved into a new house and our reception is much improved here from where we used to live. Before the throttle I was able to stream 4k for the first time due to increased data speeds. Couple weeks later they throttle lol.
