Verizon Wireless really hates the rezound.

When I was there getting it activated cause wanted new SIM they were pleased I was switched to it from my bolt. They still have customers getting the Rezound. I am loving it. But I only like HTC phones

That all maybe be well and good but the straight up point is that when you walk into the store and have an 'idea' of what you want, the reps will steer you to an I phone or the latest android. The rez, wouldn't even get an honorable mention at this point

I have only been in stores a few times, but every time someone asks for an iPhone, the csr tries to convince them for an android. Just recently, the csr was pushing for a lg, when asked about short battery life on smartphones, he just said that that was the way current smartphones are, didn't even suggest the maxx

Ill betcha 85% of the reps have no more knowledge about these phones than the average consumer falling for the typical marketing traps. Its the reason why I can't remember the last time I went into a B&M store to buy any piece of tech. The sheer ignorance of the reps is cringe worthy for folks who do just a tad more research into what they are buying.
Almost as cringe worthy as family members who need everything now and rather than listening to advice buy a LC Lucid because "its a good deal" and then wonder why battery life is so horrible :'(

According to the salesperson I spoke with, the lack of VZW interest in Rezound, as compared to Droid, stems from the refusal of HTC to subsidize advertizing.

Great thread. I just got my Rezound in August and love it. I am in IT and a techie. I played with the MAXX, GNex, Rezound, Inc 4g and SIII for an hour each. The only one close was the SIII but I found Touchwiz cludgy. I have a Galaxy Tab and Touchwiz is the one thing I hate about it. Great phone but I'll stick with my HTC.

One last thing, MOTO didn't spend all the money on the "DROID" name Verizon did otherwise the HTC DROID Incredible series wouldn't have the DROID name nor would the Samsung DROID Charge.

I think Verizon is pushing anything 4G just to get your money from the crap new data plans they have. If a rep is down on the rezound it's probably due to the number of returns they've seen . I am on number 4 right now and will soon be on number 5 due to a bad clnr unit.

Here's my take on who will like what:

Rezound: People that want a solid device and don't upgrade every 5 seconds

RAZR / Maxx: People that want to believe that they actually get better battery life than the Rezound and don't mind their eyes bleeding

GNex: Flashaholics

SGS3: Pretty much everyone else(also including the above people)

Seriously the SGS3 combines bits and pieces of all of the above. It's also the newest so it should be the best. There's just no point in saying Verizon hates this and Verizon hates that because as long as you give them money Verizon loves whatever you do. They just don't want to spend theirs to care about your software upgrade. Which is also why we should do away with OTA's, make them all manual downloads from the manufacturer. I guarantee the Rezound would've had ICS by February/March rather than August(Or whenever it was I can't remember)

GS3 is the best now overall, but the Rezound has a better (albeit smaller) display. The Razr maxx still has better battery life and substantially better direct sunlight visibility. the razr maxx can also be turned into an android laptop for $50 by buying a lapdock and for less than $40, you can buy a hd station where you can use the hdmi out in conjunction with usb keyboard and mouse. i could never get the mhl adapter to work right, and even then, no usb connectivity. the razr maxx also has smart actions. there are 3rd party apps, but none worked as well as smart actions, for me. the display on the razr maxx is substantially below par. if the gs3 had a lapdock and hd station type accessories, then i would probably be using it.

yeah, a lot of verizon reps are pretty clueless and really just try to sell whatever gets them the most commission or perhaps whatever is needed to fill quota. the managers seem a little more knowledgeable. i tried to buy a thunderbolt with a 1 year contract, in store, they would not let me. so i went ahead and bought it online. but really, if you you know what you want, just go to the store and get it, but unless it is something that i can't buy online or cheaper in stores, then i would rather just buy online. tech wise, i seem to get better deals online like when i got a free HP 23" LED monitor or when i got a few Sony streaming media players for $10 each. or a 80+ bronze psu for $12.

i did however buy a 32gb Touchpad at Staples. The bastard manager refused to reduce price even though it was missing a microusb cable and was open box. still, for $150, a great android tablet, for the price. i also went in store to get a no contract samsung vitality with monster bluetooth speakers for $50 no contract. traded in the samsung vitality for a htc 4.7" 4glte phone (not verizon) with no contract. i miss the days when I could get a dual core cpu and mobo combo for less than $30.

There may be newer phones but I still don't think there's a BETTER phone than the Rezound.

It's still the only phone that has 4G LTE, is World capable, and can do simultaneous voice and 3G data. Oh, yeah, and it works with 64 gig microSD cards.

And with the latest Global ICS RUU (ie leaked OTA ROM), my battery life is awesome. I used to get to bedtime with around 30% battery left. Now, it's usually more like 60%. And that's with leaving everything turned on all the time. 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, auto Brightness, etc.

Everyone here knows I love the rez, but your statement is off. The sgs3 does everything you just said, has a better battery, both in size and longevity and some other things cooked in. It is also way newer. My first sgs3 had issues, but this second one has been awesome.

Verizon rankings right now would be sgs, the rez and who cares about third? I think if I had to get a phone right now, it would come down to budget, but you cannot go really wrong with either of the top two

The SGS3 is a world phone as well. It does do SVDO on 4G as well.

Wonder what the next big device will be.

Rumors of a HTC 1080p device with a 1.5ghz S4 processor.

or razr hd. doesn't matter which phone is technically better, i am sure verizon will promote the razr hd more.

True, but I wouldn't buy it. End up paying brand new price for something I feel should have been out when the original RAZR came out.

Svdo means you can call and use data on 3g. All 4g phones in a 4g area can do that. Not all 4g phones have Svdo however. If you meant 3g I apologize and just wanted to clarify and not say your wrong. The rezound is a world phone with Svdo as well which makes it that much better!
