Verizon Z3V looks different than normal Z3?

Not necessarily true about the case and charging. I had a Droid DNA and did Qi charging in a case.

The verizon z3v is also missing the magnetic charging port right? I wonder if the qi charging caused problems with that.

Yep it's missing the magnetic charging.

However, I'm assuming that every time i would want to charge the Z3V i would be forced to remove the aftermarket case, which would be a negative.

Unless you have a very thick case you should be able to charge the phone with the case on. I've the Verizon LG G2 which has wireless charging as well and have no problem charging with the case one.

Give me a break. The phone has a lot the internals of the Z3 with the externals of the Z2. All this talk about the externals of a phone are a joke in my book. I have owned dozens of phones and have never cared about how they look. It's more about performance and the software.

Shame on those who are buying this so call Z3v...Letting Sony and Verizon rip you off...You're basically buying a Z2 and paying full retail for it.

Well then...

As long as the phone is fast, right? ;) just messin with ya

This is all Verizon. They have a history of changing a phone's design (e.g. LG G2). Popular phones can say no to Verizon's wishes (e.g. iphone), but other companies trying to get market share in the US have to put up with Verizon's way, unfortunately. I think the Z3 and Z3 Compact are great phones and hopefully Verizon and other carriers will recognize this so that future Xperia Z models (hint, hint Z3X) will come to the US.

The Z3v has the design, speaker, display, camera, and battery from the Z2. Only the processor is the same as the Z3. So more like an overclocked Z2 than a modified Z3. Disappointing because the Z3 display and speakers in particular are supposed to be much better than the Z2. Also, the Z3 display is more efficient which is why this is rated for less battery life even with the bigger Z2 size battery.

I keep seeing the claim that the display is the Z2's rather than the improved Z3's, but haven't seen any proof that this is the case. Where did you see that it uses that screen, as well as those speakers?

Where you excited that they were going to tell us the release date for tmobile at the event on the 9th but they didn't? :(

Great question. Someone needs to show some proof before I believe this. Would be nice if Sony/Verizon unveil the specs like size, etc. sometime soon. Less than two weeks until this phone comes out.

They released the white paper which shows the specs, but the specs for the main screen are the same for all three so I'm not sure how to tell the difference.

I would link them here, but I don't have enough posts. :P

Edit:

After looking through the white papers again, I think it does use the Z2 display which is disappointing. The product overview description for the Z3 is worded differently and mentions an "ultra-bright" screen whereas the Z2 and Z3v both have the same descriptions word for word.

SO it does appear that this was probably intended to be a Z2v, but Verizon/Sony held off on releasing it and threw in the Qi charging, the newer processor, improved waterproofing

Yes, I was disappointed that there was NO mention of Sony products except for the products that would be carried by Verizon.

I was expecting an announcement by Sony of their entrance into the US market for all their products. Not just a Sony / Verizon product announcement for what appears to be a bastardized version of the Z2/Z3.

Wow that will be disappointing if it does have the Z2 screen....
