Verizon's $1.99/month extended warranty worth it on top of Asurio

Right now I have the full $6.99/month TEP (Asurion Replacement Program and Verizon extended warranty). I understand that the Asurion aspect comes in handy if the phone drops and shatters, gets stolen, lost, etc...and that there's a $100 deductible. And the Verizon extended warranty helps when anything inside the phone just stops working after the manufacturer's 1-year warranty.

I'm definitely keeping the Asurion coverage in case of theft/loss...but what do you all think of the $1.99/month Verizon extended warranty? Worth it?

Thanks!

I have it, and think it is worth it, especially if you keep the phone for over a year. I am on the unlimited data plan, and the GSIII is the last phone I can get on upgrade pricing on my current line, so I plan on keeping it for a while.

I have it without insurance but I'm thinking of ditching it and adding insurance to my GS3 when it gets back from Samsung next week. I don't keep any phone for longer then a year so I'm going to add the insurance and drop the extended warranty unless you plan on keeping the phone for more then a year. I have a serious smartphone and tablet addiction so most devices only last 6-9 months with me but I will be trying to keep the GS3 for a year but something tells me that I'm headed to the play store whenever the new Nexus phones drop and I'm going to use a Straight talk sim for $45 a month.

I think that asurion can only be added within 15 or 30 days of purchase.

My og dinc that I had for over 2 years took a crap on me 1 week before my new s3 was scheduled to come. I called vzw ans explained my problem, and sent me out a brand new dinc 2 no questions asked and for free. Not really free cause I had the extra $1.99 a month..... No deductible.

Keep in mind that some credit cards will double the manufacurer's warranty up to a year. It may be more of a pain to get reimbursed though.

Yes. The latter is true. There is a 30 day grace period to add Asurion insurance after date of purchase.

They will only reimburse up to the price paid. For example, I bought my rezound for $ 50 on upgrade last November, and if I filed a claim through my cc, they would reimburse me $50 maximum.

Total Equipment Coverage includes both Asurion Wireless Phone Protection (insurance) and extended warranty. The extended warranty covers electrical or mechanical defects and has no deductible. The insurance covers accidental damage or loss and has a deductible.

Thanks for all the replies! As much as I hate to give Verizon more of my money (well, mostly to Asurion, I guess), when you're dealing with a phone retailing for ~$600 I guess it makes sense for peace of mind...
