Why would you compare old hardware to new hardware??? Of course the GS3 is going to be better.

Though I agree with what your saying from a hardware perspective S3 hands down. I would love to put that S4 processor the screen and the camera into my GNex as I prefer it's aesthetics over the S3.

With the Nexus however its all about the software. I would argue my Nexus with mediocre hardware, running a modified vanilla Jelly Bean with a custom kernel over clocked to 1520, runs smoother & faster than the GS3 at the Verizon store. I might also add that everything on this rom works as it should, and I have little doubt that I will be tasting the "K" dessert as well.

So at least at this point in time I would say it is a matter of opinion.

Had the GNex, gave it up for the S3.
Considering my GNex had awful reception and the worst battery performance of anything I have ever owned, there is no reason to compare beyond that. The GNex was missing the most crucial and fundamental aspect(s) of a phone..........it sucked as a phone.
I agree that the aesthetics, etc. were nice but again what's the point? Like comparing two sports cars; one with an engine the other without.

That sucks. I have not noticed any phone issues on mine.

I still have both my nexus and s3.
I am running jellybean on my nexus,(JellyBro CM10).
I am running CleanRom 2.0.1 on my S3.
The only clear advantage i could give the S3 over the nexus is it has better camera, and better battery life.I have stock batteries in each device.
But the battery life on the nexus with stock battery is manageable for me most times getting 16 to 18 hrs on a single charge.
I get good solid signal on both devices.
The speaker volume doesn't affect me.
On the other hand the Nexus has more developer support.
As mentioned its really depending on what you are wanting to do with your phone and what all you are into as far as tweaking it.
I like both devices in its own right.Im glad i have the option to have them both.

You can't compare a modded gnex to a stock GS3. Compare a modded gs3 with a modded gnex, that would be a more accurate comparison.

Your absolutely right and I agree with what your saying... but performance wise at this point is not what I look for in high end android since most is gonna on par with most ppl expectations... battery life is what's most important to me.. as software can always be manipulated... a solid battery on a android device is Golden.... and I mean just straight out the box without any use of battery saving technics.... and yes I know the gs3 have a battery saving mode with those technics but its native to touchwiz as a feature... so really dont count that .. as I do it have to go out my way to extend its life

This, as much as I wanted to support a Nexus on Verizon, it just didn't work. Now that the S3 is unlocked and rooted, there's no need for me to look back at the Gnex.

I have had (and still have) the Nexus since mid December and then got the S3 a few weeks ago. The S3 is so much better than the Nexus in every way. I keep both stock btw.

I like the video but why do you keep putting that splash screen up throughout the video? I would have preferred to see more specific comparisons of how apps behave in the video on each phone. Good video though and thanks.

As I said you can't compare. That's like comparing an Xbox with the Xbox 360. I have both and obviously I like the speed and quickness of my gs3 over my gnex but the Nexus has a million roms for it. More developer support and CM10 seems to give less issues on the Gnex than the GS3. But as I said the S3 is new hardware vs old hardware.

EXACTLY!!!!! that's the best thing anyone could do at this point...keep the GS3 as your main daily driver and keep the G-nexus for future Google updates

Well I had to be to work 4:30am est. today and after doing all the work of piecing and rendering i wanted to get the video up before I left out to work... and didn't have enough time to close in those gaps... so a low quality image of my name and blog(SNNTEC.blogspot.com) just kinda filled those gaps...trust me I wanted to fill those gaps... and hmm that's a pretty good idea.. maybe I'll put together an app comparison video... I'll start with a processor battle with benchmarks

Truth be told, I really wanted the Gnex to work out.
Loved most everything about it (except reception and battery).
I only got the S3 because I could no longer live with dropped calls and a dead battery by noon.
A bad circumstance turned into a really good thing. The S3 is flawless for me.

The SGS3 is much better than the nexus. After the os update the nexus has many issues with network, which s3 does not have.

Whaaaaat , lol . What issues are you having with the network on your nexus ? I have zero issues .

I had the Nexus and I honestly loved everything about the phone, except the fact that it didn't do things a regular phone would do like phone calls or have decent signal. The battery life isn't too great on my S3 either (I honestly have no clue how everyone has good battery life). Overall I don't have too many complaints with the S3.

The fixed navigation bar taking up space and being easy to touch by accident when gaming is IMO, a big negative for the Gnex.
