Vertical clock on the lock screen

Not very professional of you chanchan
Maybe the 'do you even have a Samsung phone' is a bit harsh. But I was just trying to point out that her response was erroneous. As from the thread she copied her initial response from, there have been far worse responses to this exact same situation.

I guess I grew up in a different environment, using "far worse responses " to justify doing the same is going back to "but Johnny broke a window too", why can't I? A little kindness to go along with helpful responses will encourage more participation in these forums, imo. But then I'm a newby here.

Meh. Some guys don't really think about responses when behind a keyboard. Especially after a long day. If I said something wrong I don't really go back and pull back. It's already been said. But sometimes I have a short fuse on people.

I do not use AOD, I just want a horizontal clock on the lock screen. And thank you guys, in the discussion I realized that for now this is not possible!

Glad to help. If you want a work around for the time being, if you choose that Edge clock and select AOD, at least you'll have that display initially when the screen is locked.

:)

I found a temporary solution, NEXT LOCK SCREEN application. It works well, I just do not know how greedy it is to the battery ...

Time will tell right? What I do know is I use the aod on my phone and it's not much of a battery hog so I don't know how much that app would be either. Just keep an eye on it I guess

He asked to transform the lockscreen from a vertical clock to a horizontal one.

As of now that feature is nonexistent. You can only have the lockscreen clock in horizontal format if there is an active notification. The Oreo update as seen on the S8 brings those clock options to the LOCKSCREEN.

As of now, only the AOD has different clock formats.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that this will be finally addressed in Oreo.

Okay OP. Sorry for the mess up top. Here's some clarification.

Until Oreo, you only have the option to have a vertical clock when there are no notifications. The clock will only be horizontal when notifications come in.

You may be able to do this on Oreo as others pointed out earlier

This exactly. And yes, Oreo does provide a setting to change the lock screen clock... At least on the beta version in the S8/S8+

If you use a different theme, then some of them have a horizontal clock on the lock screen.

I'm confused by what the OP wanted. By horizontal, do you mean "landscape"? Meaning the lock screen rotates when you turn the phone on its side.

This is not the first time there had been an argument about this and it always lock screen vs AOD.

The next time somebody asks about changing the lock screen, we need to clarify. To many, the AOD is confused with the lock screen; especially if they are new to Samsung or coming from an older Samsung phone that didn't have AOD capability.

It'll save a lot of time arguing.

Related, will the Oreo update allow the screen to rotate into landscape mode all-the-time, rather just on selected apps??

I would like to get rid of the vertical clock on the lock screen and replace it with another, horizontal clock. Is that possible at all? Every suggestion is welcome, thank you!

Go to Lock screen and security then under lock screen and aod, click Clock and FaceWidgets and choose Clock Style. You may now choose what clock style you want for your lock screen.

Well good morning boys and girls. This has been a rather interesting read. Hopefully all has been cleared up.

I am using Oreo here. If i got to settings >lock screen and security> clock and Facewidgets. I can change the style and color of clock on my lock screen.
