So, I'm sure everyone here has also experienced this come although I'm sure you have. Android 12 versus 11, if you put your phone on silent all mode, there's no status bar indicator to tell you that you're actually in silent all mode, and I missed a few phone calls already in the past. It's one of the most annoying features of Android 12 to me. Android 11 was like that. And half the time and vibrate mode, that icon doesn't show up in my status bar either. One of the most annoying things about Android 12. Just wanted to share this with everyone.

Yep, I concur. And I reported it as a bug during Android 12 beta, and my report was closed. I guess Google intends it to be like this?

Yes, sir as did I many many many times. Google either didn't think it was a bug, or they failed to act on our bug reports. It's really freaking annoying. I'm not even trying exaggerated, but as far as notifications settings are concerned, holy crap. It's horrible. Next year I'm planning to get an iPhone 13 pro Max and try out iOS for myself. And their new slider has a red dot on it to show you when the phone is actually on vibrate, or not. This is just bad.

This is terrible and it needs to be fixed. If you figure a way to petition Google, post here and I'll join in. I rarely silence my phone but certainly would like a visual reminder whenever it is silenced.

Yep yep, I hear you. I mean Android 11 this was absolutely fine there was no need to change this feature. It's horrible!

Are you talking about the silent icon indicator?
Like the one in my status bar? I'm using a 4A I've never noticed a problem not having it. Unless I misunderstood your issue.

Yep yup that’s the icon. Are you on android 11 and 12 on your pixel 4A though? One of the faults of android 12 that I’ve seen in many others here I’ve seen as a silent mode icon and vibrate mode can’t One of the faults of android 12 that I’ve seen in many others here I’ve seen as a silent mode icon and vibrate mode icon or an apparent all the time in status bar. Especially vibrate only mode. And half the time my silent mode icon is broken as well.

Been on Android 12 since the beta came out. Never noticed a problem with the icon for vibrate or silent.

so, whenever you’re on silent all mode or vibrate only mode, you see the actual icon in your status bar? For me on my pixel 5, I never see it. And every time my silent only mode icon is broken. What I have to do is swipe down the notifications that every single time just to see which other mode I’m in. Most the time I’m in normal mode but you get my point unfortunately.

Okay, this is interesting. I hadn't tried the vibrate mode and notice it does not show up. The silent mode does however. I tried some other launchers and check them and they all respond the same vibrate does not show silent does. This is the first I've heard of this issue. Doesn't affect me too much but I could see how it could affect others that use it a lot

That seems to be missing on my Pixel 6 Pro. Both Silent and Vibrate icons don't show up.

For me the silent icon always shows up. I always use my phone on silent since I have a Garmin watch that alerts me/vibrates for notifications. For me the icon at the top always shows. I'm on Android 12 Nov update on the Pixel 6 Pro.

Honestly coming from me and Android 12 on my Pixel 5, feels like my phone's broken half the time. Sometimes a silent mode icon shows up sometimes it doesn't. Very very annoying. Yes I know I could always hardwire my phone and reset it but I'm not doing that lol. Usually keep it on normal mode anyway but this morning I had it on silent all mode and the very early morning, and I completely forgot that it was in silent all mode and my wife tried to call me a few times I never heard the phone ring until I checked my lock screen.

Until this gets resolved if ever you could always just click your volume button on the side and get that slide out and it'll tell you right where you're at, not too much trouble just need to change the habit.

That's one of the annoying aspects of Android. The same update on the same model or brand of phones and having different issues and bugs.

Yes, I hope hardly agree with you! I've gotten used to it with beta builds and stages of a beta program etc etc. Have one user with a pixel 4A could have one issue, and myself with a pixel 5 could have a completely different issue or no issue at all. However, it's still very very annoying. Next year like I said I plan on trying out and buying an iPhone 13 pro Max to give iOS a shot and because I need to change in my life. It's still annoying as hell on my Pixel 5 for the moment. Thanks for all the help, and support nonetheless!

Pixel 4XL; Android 12, I have the silent indicator but NO vibrate indicator.

Yep I hear you. On my phone, silent mode indicator is still broken half of the time as well still unfortunately.

For me, on my pixel 3XL running 12, sometimes it shows up and sometimes I get the dot showing there's more hidden notification icons. It seems to have to do with the notification icons size parameters built into 12. Maybe not running the battery percentage would keep it up there consistently?

Okay, I thought of that. I just tried that this morning on my phone. Doesn't work at all. It's a good thought though! Yep, there are certain things of Android 12 that I really dislike now that I think about it.
