Very disappointed with the Nexus 6P

yeah the pink hue you got when you traded in a phone that didn't have it and was working fine for a defective model because you blamed the phone design for something that was your fault. As for XDA, I've been there for years. The 6p has less issues there than any other popular phone forum I've seen to date.

Being that your very knowledgeable please give me statics that this phone has less issues then other devices.

Many Nexus 6P Owners Are Reporting Microphone Problems, May Be Related To Noise Cancellation; Google Is Investigating

actually, he might actually have an issue with his phone.

Nope it's the same thing. Some people are covering the noise cancellation mic. And that article is just another example of a group of one-offs like people who send texts with a hammer and then claim the screen is fragile. There's always a good serving of silliness with smartphone trouble threads on the internet. The NC mic is on the back. OK then, so don't cover it. Saying "stop telling me how to use my phone" is about as lame an excuse as complaining that snowblower makers don't allow users to stick their hands in the blades while it's running to clear clogs.

If you aren't happy go to another device. Not a big deal, plenty of people buy other devices. You don't need our permission. Swap to another or try one more time. I wouldn't accept a pink screen. Fortunately mine was perfect. If it wasn't I'd of RMA d it and tried again.

Issue in Canada exchanging it once bought from retailer is not as easy as the states. Once you pass 30 minutes of talk time they do not accept exchanges even under 15 days of purchase.

The first one took me a total for 1h30 minutes in the store to exchange because best buy had to call the carrier and the carrier give an exception.

They initially requested from me to call Huawei for an RMA. I called them they told me I have to send it out for repair and they will send back the device to me after 14 days. I have had the device for a total of 2 days

For what it's worth, stigma be damned, if I'm going to be on the phone for any extended period of time or want to use both hands while I'm on the phone I use a bluetooth headset. That avoids the problem of blocking the noise-cancelling microphone.

That's precisely what I do. Even a wired headset will work.

You can also disable the noise cancellation with a simply build prop edit. Root is needed

What is so bad about touchwiz. Nothing is perfect and some bugs you see are from android itself. Not just touchwiz.
You can hide touchwiz with a launcher. Cut off 90% of the samsung add ons. The Note 5 runs smooth as silk.
Not saying 6P is a bad choice or anything, I just wonder why everyone has to hate on touchwiz. I think touchwiz on the Note and S6 is pretty awesome. You can turn off over saturated colors in screen settings if its too loud looking.

I hated touchwiz back in the day, but I have tried MANY many phones. Nothing is perfect. Android isn't perfect. Touchwiz isn't perfect. To me, I think the Note 5 is the best device I have ever used. The Note sounds and works perfectly while squeezed between my ear and shoulder. jus sayin.

That's what I mean it's supposed to work when you squeeze your phone between your shoulder and your ear. It's a very common position if you use your phone alot.

yeah I have to agree that it's a (somewhat) common position to hold the phone and perhaps one Google failed to recognize. that said you have 3 very simple solutions, 1) Bluetooth 2) new phone 3) don't use your phone from your shoulder.

I didn't know returning a phone in Canada was so complicated, but at the end of the day nothing is gonna change your dilemma and it'll get resolved. And as far as complaints go for a new phone, I don't have any stats (nor am I gonna get em) but it does seem like there's a lot less complaints with the 6p than a lot of phones.

obviously nothing is perfect, and I'm not the one holding my phone on my shoulder so it's easy for me to say, but that issue seems like a small one. the pink hue though, I feel ya, I'd be pissed.

fortunately though these are just phones so after the week we've had internationally, it's really not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience that 95% of the world wished they had.

Good luck!

I saw this issue pop-up a few days ago and thought it was an isolated issue. But now seeing the AP post and that on the Google Support page it seems to be more of an issue than previously thought.

Since Google is already looking into it, hopefully they are able to release details as to whether or not it can be fixed via OTA. The only way to work around it is to use a Bluetooth or Wired headset, which shouldn't be the permanent solution but will work until something is done. If you are rooted, the AP post mentions a user on XDA who disabled the noise canceling via build.prop edit, so that's another way - but again, not to be acceptable as a permanent fix.

Bingo

My tests have shown the noise cancelation on this phone is sik. In the same room as a blaring football game, the person I was talking to said they could not hear it at all. Didn't believe them so made some calls to my voicemail... no trace of the football game with my clearly recorded voice.

Moto X and iPhone weren't even close.

With all due respect how is it working how it should. My S6 never had that issue nor did my Note 4 or any other device before then

If that many people are complaining about it then it must not be working the way it should

I feel your pain. I honestly think the call quality on the Moto X Pure Edition is lower quality than the previous two generations. But it is what it is.

In your situation, I think what Regilian is saying is that the positioning of the noise cancelling microphones may be such that the way you cradle it with your shoulder blocks one (where did not on other devices) and may be the cause of your issues. So according to Steve Jobs, "you're holding it wrong." LOL

I'm sorry you're not enjoy your phone. Unfortunately no phone, as much as we'd like it to, is perfect. If you're not happy, by all means get a phone you enjoy. That is the wonderful thing about Android, you can find many phones running this great OS that has the features you're looking for most. If you'd like, I'll even help you find a phone that meets your needs that is sold in Canada. Just shoot me a pm :-)

do you work for Google?! lol .... I think dude can find a phone on his own, it's just that the noise cancelling speaker is located where it rests on his shoulder and he wasn't aware that was causing a problem. fortunately the 6p hit all the boxes I look for, cause 2015 had been a disappointing year, but I agree, right now Android has enough variety that any fan should be able to find something they like. nothing is perfect though, like I'd prefer a micro SD and OIS on my 6p, but it's the closest to perfect I've found thus far.
